Huntington Place: rigging, labor, floors and freight N095 | https://glmedia.tech/technical-help/huntington-place-detroit-rigging-personal-pisos-muelles/ The current official planning page and 2025–2026 stagehand terms provide a basis for decisions at Huntington Place, Detroit. Some older PDFs still use TCF Center or Cobo Center; their rules are not carried forward without checking. The contract and Event Manager determine each event’s scope. Confirm the hall and dates; submit a rigging plot, calculate floor and support loads, order stagehands and utilities, and coordinate the dock and safety plans. Premier Creative Group is the preferred AV provider; that does not remove labor rules or make it exclusive for all AV. 1. Identity and plans The current website uses Huntington Place. Level plans locate halls and rooms but do not assign a point, service or occupancy to a setup. The published rigging plot is for the Grand Riverview Ballroom; do not extend it to other rooms or treat it as approval of a particular load. 2. Rigging and points Loads hung from the building require qualified riggers from the appropriate local union under production-company supervision. For truss or motors, the planning page calls for a rigging plan up to 30 days ahead, reviewed by a certified rigger or structural engineer at a cost. Drilling or anchoring floors and walls requires prior approval. Event point loads and approved configuration are still missing. 3. AV labor and jurisdiction Premier Creative Group is the preferred AV provider, while other companies can work under the labor terms. Venue stagehands take part in AV setup, operation and strike; the 2025–2026 terms call for labor orders at least 10 business days ahead to guarantee labor. They distinguish vendor key board positions from A2, L2 and projection duties staffed by stagehands as applicable. 4. Floors and supports The general exhibit-hall value is 300 lb/ft², with some areas reduced to 220 lb/ft². Above 300 lb/ft², show management must submit a load footprint and distribution on plans signed and sealed by a Michigan registered engineer at least 60 days ahead. Floor rating is not a wheel, base plate, route or overhead point rating. Area | Published reference | Decision still needed Exhibit halls, general value | 300 lb/ft² | Check location, footprint and support loads. Reduced-capacity areas | 220 lb/ft² | Identify exact areas on venue plans. Above general value | >300 lb/ft²; request ≥60 days ahead | Sealed distribution plan and venue approval. 5. Docks and freight There is no general warehouse for advance shipments; coordinate freight with the official general contractor. Docks for halls A–D are reached from Second and Congress; Hall E uses Atwater Drive on the river level and has no truck wells. Unloading at the front or on Atwater Street is prohibited. Agree on access, timing and equipment for the event. 6. Power and network The venue website names Freeman Electric as exclusive electrical provider. Internet and telephone also use approved exclusive services; complimentary WiFi is basic, not a show connection with agreed bandwidth and backup. Request circuits, connectors, location and network through the event channels. 7. Safety and deadlines Submit the preliminary plan to the Event Manager 60 days ahead or before space is sold; the final plan is due 45 days before first move-in for Fire Marshal review. Haze and fog require approval, a full dry run, fluid SDS, water-based product and a client-paid fire watch. Confirm changes and permits with the responsible parties. Subject | Published rule | Preparation Truss or motor rigging | Plan up to 30 days ahead. | Obtain review and approved point loads. AV labor | Stagehands; order ≥10 business days ahead. | Define crew and setup/show jurisdiction. Event plans | Preliminary 60 days; final 45 days ahead. | Coordinate Event Manager and Fire Marshal. Power and network | Freeman Electric and approved exclusive services. | Order assigned services. 8. Decision package Assemble contracted space and dates, rigging plot and loads, footprint and route, fire plan, stagehand, power and network orders, dock, schedule and written approvals. Keep published rules, contract scope and event-specific approval separate. Does a 300 lb/ft² hall rating authorize any structure or vehicle? No. It is a published general load; some areas are rated at 220 lb/ft². Above 300 lb/ft², show management requests approval at least 60 days ahead with footprint and distribution on plans sealed by a Michigan registered engineer. Check wheels, supports and route too. Can an outside AV vendor set up and operate without venue labor? The website permits other AV firms subject to stagehand requirements. Stagehands cover setup, operation and strike; the exception for booths up to 400 ft² with exhibitors’ full-time employees is not a general production exemption. The vendor and organizer should confirm crew and roles with the venue. Reviewed October 18, 2026.
