ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP
ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP: sources, control, and destinations
Ask GLMedia about rental options for an IP audiovisual system. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.
Model and use
With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.
ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP is a native SMPTE-2110 switcher with 32 inputs and 32 outputs. Identify the IP model: Plus and Constellation 4K have different configurations.
We can help prepare production with cameras, presentations, and graphics. The complete path includes sources, networking, control, and destinations as well as the switcher.
Video, control, and destinations
- IP video
- Separate 100G video links, NMOS control, PTP reference, and management. Label their roles in the diagram.
- Sources and destinations
- Plan conversion for SDI or HDMI sources according to their models. Assign program, preview, and multiview to each operator’s required destinations.
- Computer
- ATEM Software Control operates production. The rear USB-C webcam delivers HD; check this output separately from IP video.
What to prepare
Share planned sources, screens, recording, and streaming. We can organize options before the program and all connections are final.
Prepare converter, network switch, clock, and panel models and versions. Define audio, operating roles, and backup rehearsal too.
Basic preparation
- Confirm the IP model and installed versions. Accessed support adds this model in ATEM 11.0; check compatibility before planning changes.
- Draw sources and destinations with format and purpose. Separate video, control, and reference topologies.
- Check PTP Lock and stream mapping before production rehearsal. If using NMOS, identify expected senders and receivers.
- Set switcher format and inspect each source with identifiable picture and audio. Preserve per-input results.
- Prepare preview and program and rehearse a transition in a test circuit. Check graphics, audio, and the final destination.
- Test monitoring, recording, or webcam according to the planned service. Preserve configuration and a rehearsed recovery procedure.
Three technical questions
Why can I control the ATEM but not see a source?
Control connection and video stream are different paths. Compare expected source, route, format, and synchronization status.
Record what each end shows and which inputs work. That map helps guide the next check without restarting the entire system.
Do converted inputs remove the need to prepare networking?
Format conversion operates on supported inputs. Stream transport, routing, and clocking remain part of preparation.
Test actual sources with their converters and destinations. Do not extend one connection’s result to every format or device.
Can webcam provide Ultra HD output?
Specifications limit the rear USB-C webcam to 720p or 1080p at the program frame rate. Prepare the computer destination around that format.
For another delivery, define the corresponding output path. We can review options around the receiver and requested signal.
Checks by symptom
| Symptom | Check | What it helps distinguish |
|---|---|---|
| Control active, source missing | Expected stream, route, and clock. | Control or video reception. |
| Wrong source in program | Preview, selection, and assigned destination. | Operation or routing. |
| No webcam picture | Rear USB-C, application, and HD format. | Computer path. |
Limits and precautions
Save configuration before format, routing, or version changes. Coordinate network and clock changes outside production.
Redundant pairs protect transport; they do not double input count. Test the backup system with its destinations.
Check IP10 and supported formats at each end when using that mode. Document the working system; maintain ventilation and power according to exact equipment.
