Atomos Ninja TX
Atomos Ninja TX: SDI, HDMI, media, and synchronization
Ask GLMedia about rental options for event recording and monitoring. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.
Model and use
With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.
Ninja TX is a monitor-recorder with built-in HDMI and 12G-SDI, Wi-Fi, and AirGlu. Identify TX: Ninja TX GO and Ninja RAW have different connections and functions.
Specifications list RAW up to 6Kp60 or 8Kp30 with supported signals. That maximum does not establish a camera’s output or turn conventional video into RAW. Define format and delivery before choosing the path.
Video, audio, and control
- Video
- Connect camera output to the appropriate SDI or HDMI input. Separate outputs feed monitoring; check the received format and what reaches the next destination.
- Media and control
- Certified CFexpress Type B or USB-C storage. USB-C camera control depends on camera and firmware; separate it from video and PD power.
- Network and timecode
- Wi-Fi and AirGlu support compatible network and synchronization functions. Timecode identifies clip timing; it is not video-signal genlock.
What to prepare
Prepare camera, firmware, output signal, codec, duration, and media by model/capacity. Identify audio, monitoring destination, and synchronization needs.
For networking or cloud workflows, identify service, access, and planned connection. We can help prepare before all destinations are final.
Basic preparation
- Confirm TX and installed firmware. The accessed support page lists AtomOS 12.7.4 for TX; check that section before planning changes.
- Connect documented power and signal to the correct input. Compare resolution, frame rate, and signal type at camera and recorder; record what each reports.
- For RAW, check supported camera and output/firmware combination. For conventional video, choose the delivery codec without assuming RAW compatibility.
- Prepare certified media and data cable. Back up before formatting; record and play back a sample with representative audio, format, and duration.
- Test triggering and USB control separately. Check indicators and files on each required recording device, as well as the monitor output picture.
- For AirGlu, fit specified antennas and check master, receivers, and recorded timecode. For networking, verify destination and workflow before operation.
Three technical questions
Why is HD received but the signal lost at a higher format?
Compare actual camera output with the format reported by Ninja TX. Check input, cable, and required standard; internal camera recording does not automatically define external output.
Test a supported combination and change one setting at a time. Preserve versions and results; another user’s case does not establish general incompatibility.
What should I check when an H.265 recording looks wrong?
Separate screen image, monitor output, and played-back file. Record source, format, quality, media, and firmware to locate where the issue appears.
Test a supported combination and inspect the file in the planned editor. A note fixing one camera’s RAW signal does not establish an H.265 fix.
Do AirGlu or Wi-Fi replace other signal paths?
AirGlu synchronizes timecode with compatible devices; it does not by itself synchronize video-signal phase. Define production synchronization needs.
Wi-Fi does not turn every camera into a wireless source or establish cloud delivery. Check the exact function, service, network, and destination before relying on it.
Checks by symptom
| Symptom | Check | What it helps distinguish |
|---|---|---|
| Signal lost after format change | Camera output, input, and cable. | Format or physical path. |
| Incorrect file image | Screen, output, and file separately. | Monitoring or recording. |
| Timecode mismatch | Master, receivers, and recorded sample. | Link or synchronization setup. |
Limits and precautions
Use a verified PD supply and cable or compatible NP-F battery. Keep ventilation clear and mounting secure; similar connectors do not establish accessory compatibility.
Preserve configuration and files before updating or formatting. Use exact-model firmware and schedule changes outside operation.
Test signal, recording, and editor before delivery. Verify network, services, and accessories for the actual system.
