PIXERA four GEN2: outputs, options, and preparation

Ask GLMedia about rental options for content playback and presentations. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.

Model and scope

With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.

AV Stumpfl PIXERA four GEN2 is a media server for playback and content composition. Generation, licensing, and installed cards determine the available signal path.

The four name does not establish four capture inputs or four enabled outputs. Documentation distinguishes versions and options; identify the unit configuration before building the project.

Connectors, options, and network

Outputs and licensing
4 physical DisplayPort 2.1b connectors; enabled outputs depend on licensing. The documented maximum resolution is 5120×2880 at 60 Hz. Check mode, adapter, cable, and receiver; a connector maximum does not guarantee performance of the entire composition.
Options
HDMI/SDI capture, separate GUI output, and genlock/framelock are optional. Not every card combination is possible. Identify the card and its documentation before planning live input or synchronization.
Network and media
2 10 Gb/s network ports plus separate IPMI management. Operating system and data use separate storage; data capacity and speed depend on configuration.

What to prepare

Identified license and options, PIXERA version, complete project and media. An output list with resolution, frame rate, EDID, and destination; an operator monitor suited to the configuration.

Suitable rack, rails, power, and ventilation. Plan a rehearsal with the event’s actual layers, capture, effects, and outputs, plus a documented recovery process.

Basic preparation

  1. Identify GEN2, license, GPU, capture, synchronization, and storage. Save configuration and project before changes.
  2. After receiving the server, follow the manual: leave it in its shipping crate at the final destination for 12 hours, disconnected from power, to acclimatize.
  3. Install using the specified rails, not the front rack ears alone. Keep front intake and rear exhaust clear. Connect cables before power-up as directed in the manual.
  4. Identify network ports and current IP settings; distinguish IPMI management from the working connection. Check physical outputs, licensing, and receivers before assigning them to the project.
  5. Rehearse the complete project using actual files. Check continuity, synchronization, audio, and recovery; retain project and media backups.

Three technical questions

Why are connectors present but not all outputs available?

Compare licensing, playback ports, and optional GUI output. Physical connector count is not the same as licensed content outputs.

Check output mode, cabling, adapters, and receiver detection. Document the physical output assigned to each display before changing assignments.

What should I check if the server is missing from the network?

Identify working LAN and IPMI. In the delivery configuration, LAN1 uses DHCP and LAN2 a fixed address printed on the label; these settings may have changed.

Compare actual server and computer settings with the network plan. Do not copy another device’s address or assume factory settings describe the current network.

How many layers or videos can play without interruption?

There is no universal count for every project. Official charts distinguish codec, resolution, storage, and server configuration.

Manufacturer tests use specific conditions and approximate results; content and features such as VIOSO or frame blending can change performance. Test the actual project before fixing its scope.

Checks by symptom

AV Stumpfl PIXERA four GEN2
SymptomCheckWhat it helps distinguish
Missing outputLicense, GPU, GUI, mode, and receiver.Connector versus usable output.
Missing on networkPort, actual IP, and operating network.Management versus working connection.
Choppy playbackCodec, files, layers, storage, and effects.Reference test versus actual project.

Limits and precautions

The manual specifies operation from 10 to 30 °C below 1000 m, without direct sunlight; the upper limit decreases at higher altitude. Check full humidity and acclimatization conditions for the installation.

Do not lift the server by its front handles or support it by the rack ears alone. Installation requires rails and a stable rack.

The power button does not isolate power. For technical service, disconnect all supplies as directed in the manual and use qualified service; do not open the unit to diagnose capture or output.
