Model and application
- Model
- ADP-USBC-AU-2X2
- Audio
- 2 inputs / 2 outputs
- Sample rate
- 48 kHz
- Resolution
- 24 bit
- Power
- Standard PoE or suitable USB host
Confirm the USB-C adapter, not AVIO analog, AES3 or Bluetooth. It is an audio interface, not an Ethernet internet adapter or a complete conferencing DSP.
Connections and required equipment
Playback: application → USB output → AVIO Dante transmit → network receiver. Recording/call send: console Dante transmit → AVIO receive → USB input. Configure both subscriptions and the application device; they are separate directions.
Prepare the system
- Record part number, host OS, firmware and the intended send/return map.
- Connect approved network/power and confirm device synchronization before routing at the supported sample rate.
- Select AVIO as the application microphone/speaker where required; test both directions with protected levels.
Questions and troubleshooting
Case: Dante Controller sees AVIO, but laptop playback is silent.
Network discovery does not select the computer’s playback device.
- Check the application and OS output device, volume and mute.
- Follow AVIO transmit subscription to the intended destination; then check its input patch and meter.
- If selecting AVIO restores its transmit signal, the host/app selection was relevant; if transmission is present but the destination is silent, continue through subscription and destination patch. Verify one known playback at controlled level; unresolved detection/routing needs OS, app and subscription details for support.
Case: the remote guest hears themselves.
The USB bridge does not create a mix-minus by itself.
- Trace the call return separately from the console send into AVIO.
- Exclude that same return from its send bus and test with headphones before opening the room PA.
- If the guest disappears from their own send while local speech remains, the electronic return exclusion is working. Verify the actual call with a remote listener; if echo persists, check acoustic pickup and duplicate application/loopback paths with the audio operator rather than changing USB gain.
Case: USB power works, but an update fails.
Normal operation and firmware updating have different power requirements.
- Identify the exact USB-C unit and use standards-compliant PoE for the documented update procedure.
- Do not interrupt a running update or repeat resets blindly; record the error and use official recovery/support guidance.
- After a supported maintenance update completes, verify reported firmware and both playback/recording routes before reuse. If the update or recognition still fails with the required power arrangement, retain the exact error and power-source details for Audinate support; do not improvise a recovery procedure.
Choose the next check
| Observation | Next check | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Playback absent | OS/app output plus Dante transmit | Device and subscription |
| Recording/call input absent | Dante receive plus app microphone | Bus and device selection |
| Power/update issue | PoE standard and update procedure | Injector,host,firmware,error |
Precautions
- Do not use an unidentified passive injector as a substitute for documented PoE.
- USB-C connector shape does not guarantee host compatibility or unlimited charging power.
- Schedule firmware changes outside operation; preserve working routing and avoid duplicate computer loopback.
