Event power planning
Power handoff: what to record before use
Receiving documents, having power released for use and checking AV operation are different states. Record them clearly so missing verification is not treated as complete.
Information the record should identify
- Event, date and time, handoff point, provider-declared configuration and capacity, plus current drawing and load-list revisions.
- Delivering and receiving contacts, each person’s role, verification documents and the actual scope of each record.
- Differences, usage restrictions, unresolved items and an operational contact for incidents or changes. Link each result to its evidence and identify what still needs verification.
Separate record states
A picture or sound check does not establish grounding, protection or installation verification. The operational record accompanies the professional documentation applicable to that location; it does not replace it.
| State | Evidence to identify |
|---|---|
| Documents received | File, revision and scope |
| Supply released by the competent responsible party | Point, conditions and applicable record |
| AV operation checked | Equipment and scenario actually tested |
| Pending | Missing item, reviewer and applicable restriction |
Changes and event close
For source, route or load changes, issue a new revision and request review of affected items. Agree on strike timing and coordination with the provider. Electrical release and connection or disconnection operations belong to qualified personnel under the applicable scope and jurisdiction.
Planning questions
Does signing for documents mean approving the installation?
Define exactly what was received and its scope. Technical approval belongs to the party with the applicable competence and authority.
Can a record close with pending items?
Identify them and their restrictions; do not mark an unresolved point accepted. The competent responsible party determines conditions of use.
Does a panel photo replace the report?
No. It may identify a point but does not establish checks or results. Reference the appropriate documents.
Sources and scope
Technical reference documentation. Venue staff and a qualified professional review its application to the actual installation.
- Schneider Electric — Quality and safety of an electrical installation
- SRT — Grounding and continuity documentation (Argentina)
Before finalizing the supply, confirm venue and local authority requirements in the United States, or utility and local requirements for an event in Argentina. Confirm the actual site’s electrical configuration regardless of this guide’s language.
