Drum or musician riser: fixed use and scene changes
Plan the full instrument footprint, support system and movement route before selecting a riser.
Choose fixed use or documented travel
Ask GLMedia about rental options for your event. The proposal is subject to availability, confirmation of the model and configuration, and the venue’s technical requirements.
Choose a fixed platform or a documented rolling configuration. A folding stage that rolls to storage is not automatically a performance riser that can travel loaded.
Playing footprint and load contacts
- Footprint
- Include stands, pedals, stool, player, monitors and cable exits in their playing positions.
- Load review
- List every contact point and the total intended load; include the specified legs and casters in the review.
The static deck rating does not approve a wheeled assembly. Confirm the complete system, intended movement and floor conditions with the responsible designer.
Rolling kit, connections and immobilization
Use the matching rolling kit and connectors. Plan immobilization at the playing position, access and compatible edge protection.
Plan the changeover route
- Mark the playing position and the complete changeover route.
- Check doorway clearance, turns, floor transitions and cable slack.
- Use the prescribed unoccupied checks before rehearsal; agree cues, crew positions and stop conditions.
Three technical questions
Two rolling decks move apart during positioning. Can carpet hold them together?
No. Stop the move and check the specified mechanical connection. Finish materials do not replace the connector; keep the riser out of use until resolved.
The wheel locks engage but the riser still moves. Can the musician hold it?
No. Clear the riser and inspect the locking system, caster contact and floor condition. Resolve the specified immobilization method before use.
From a safe position, report whether movement occurs at a deck joint, caster or floor contact. Record the caster and locking-part references and compare their intended use with the system instructions. A person holding the riser is not the specified immobilization method.
Can the drummer remain seated during the scene change?
Do not authorize occupied travel from the presence of wheels. Keep people off during movement unless the exact system documentation and competent project assessment explicitly permit that operation.
Before anyone uses the stage
Secure equipment using approved methods; do not drill the structure to add restraints. Do not pull the riser by signal cables or assume raised staging isolates vibration.
