Portable generation
Honda EU2200i: variant and AV planning
To assess an EU2200i for a small AV system, start with the generator version and the equipment’s electrical input. The offered unit must match the voltage, frequency and load requirements of the complete system.
What the U.S. documentation confirms
Manual 00X31Z446170 distinguishes the standard EU2200iT from the Companion. Listed types are rated 120 V, 60 Hz and 15 A: 1.8 kVA rated and 2.2 kVA maximum. The product page lists 1800 rated watts and 2200 maximum watts.
- Standard and Companion panels have different outlets; send panel and nameplate photos.
- A Companion 30 A receptacle does not make one unit a 30 A power source.
- Compare venue power or a battery when continuity and sound levels matter.
What to send for a power review
- Complete model, type, serial number and matching manual.
- Simultaneous loads, electrical input, schedule and interruption tolerance.
Planned location and operation
Run a fuel-powered generator outdoors, away from openings, with exhaust directed away from buildings and people. An enclosed tent, garage or equipment room is unsuitable, even with ventilation. An automatic carbon monoxide (CO) shutoff does not permit indoor use.
In the United States, CPSC recommends at least 20 ft (about 6.1 m) from buildings. Also check the manual, air intakes, audience areas and venue rules before choosing a location. In Argentina, check the local equipment version and the jurisdiction’s and venue’s requirements.
Plan for a dry surface and rain protection as specified in the manual, without enclosing the exhaust. Shut down and let the generator cool before refueling. If the site cannot support these conditions or the required breaks, compare another power source.
Never feed building wiring through a wall outlet. If the project requires a transfer system, request an authorized system and review by qualified personnel. That review must cover protection, grounding, neutral configuration and distribution; do not use improvised adapters.
Frequently asked questions
Will it power speakers and a computer?
Send the audio equipment and computer models or nameplate photos. Their electrical input and transient demand will help us review the planned load.
Does a Companion supply more power on its own?
No. One Companion has the same published rated output as a standard unit. Different receptacles do not increase that output; check the manual for each outlet’s conditions.
Does this apply to an Argentine unit?
Only as an initial reference. Obtain the offered unit’s nameplate and local manual; do not transfer 120 V/60 Hz specifications to another version.
