Ikan PT17-T: signal, flipping, and tally

Ask GLMedia about rental options for script or confidence monitoring. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.

Model and use

With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.

Ikan PT17-T is a 17-inch monitor with built-in tally for teleprompter and return applications. This model lists a monitor and power adapter; it does not establish a complete teleprompter with glass, support, and software.

Distinguish PT17-T from PT17-SDI, PT17-HB-V2, and kits using those monitors. A shared size or family name does not establish identical mounting or connections.

Signal, script, and mounting

Panel and signal
Native resolution 1280×1024 and stated maximum brightness 1000 cd/m². SDI, HDMI, VGA, and composite are separate inputs; panel resolution is not the same as the incoming signal resolution.
Inputs and FLIP
SDI and AV composite use separate BNC ports. The manual supports 1080p up to 60 Hz over SDI/HDMI. FLIP can invert horizontally, vertically, or both after menu configuration.
Tally and mounting
Red/green tally through an RJ45 contact interface as shown in the manufacturer diagram. It is not a video connection and must not be assumed to support Ethernet or PoE. VESA 100×100 mounting; check actual support and accessories.

What to prepare

Compatible source and cable, power adapter matching the label, and suitable support. Reflecting a script also requires compatible glass, structure, computer, and text control.

For tally, identify switcher or interface output and contact wiring at both ends. Do not connect an RJ45 simply because the connector fits.

Basic preparation

  1. Identify PT17-T and check label, adapter, and mounting. Power documentation must match the monitor revision.
  2. Connect SDI, HDMI, VGA, or AV to the labeled port and select that input. Check actual source output format.
  3. For flipping, enable FLIP-H and/or FLIP-V in MENU > SYSTEM CONFIG and test FLIP. Check orientation from the reading position.
  4. Prepare tally only after matching common contacts and red/green signals against both interface diagrams. Test Preview and Program separately.
  5. Rehearse script or return with the actual user. Check aspect, cropping, brightness, and tally status; save useful settings before moving the assembly.

Three technical questions

Why is there no picture despite a connected BNC?

Check whether the connection is SDI or AV composite: these are different signals with separate ports. Select the matching input and compare resolution and frame rate with the manual table.

Test source and cable in a known path. A connected plug or power does not establish compatible video.

Why does FLIP not change the image?

The guide requires enabling FLIP-H and/or FLIP-V in SYSTEM CONFIG before using the button. Select the needed direction and check the result from the user’s viewing position.

Also check whether the software already mirrors the text. Keep a configuration that produces the correct orientation for the reader.

Why is video present but tally does not change?

Tally is separate from video. Compare switcher output, adapter interface if needed, and contact assignment with the PT17-T diagram.

Test red and green using a known operation. Do not apply PoE or network signaling to the tally input; do not infer pinout from another monitor.

Limits and precautions

Identify adapter, voltage, and polarity on the actual unit. Do not automatically apply another revision’s stated range.

This model does not establish a complete kit or universal mounting compatibility. Secure monitor and cables with suitable accessories before use.

Maximum catalog brightness does not guarantee reading at any distance or in sunlight. Adjust and rehearse with actual text, lighting, and reader.
