NovaStar VX600
NovaStar VX600: canvas, scaling, and LED screen
Plan presentations, video, and source changes around a defined canvas and signal path for the event screen.
Model and application
VX600 combines video processing and sending to compatible LED receivers. It is not VX600 Pro. The controller name does not identify the panel, its brightness, or the installation’s physical pixel resolution.
Signal and optics
- System
- HDMI, DVI, and SDI inputs according to the documentation and unit’s panel. Distinguish the control port from LED data outputs.
- Sending
- 6 LED Ethernet ports; nominal capacity 3.9 million pixels subject to documented limits and configuration. This does not mean any width and height simultaneously.
- Scaling
- Full Screen, Pixel to Pixel, and Custom address different needs. LED canvas and source may have different proportions.
System preparation
- Record cabinets, receivers, pixels per cabinet, layout, and wiring by port; preserve current files and settings.
- Define canvas, source format, layers, crop, and text size before adjusting scaling.
- Test pattern and source separately and check every area against a known visual reference.
- Rehearse source changes and recovery with the operator; keep an identified copy of the working configuration.
Planning questions
What can an event proposal include?
We can assess controller, playback, connections, configuration, and operation with the screen, or supplement an existing system. Send the date, venue, content, and approximate size so we can define the survey needed for a quote before the final map is available.
Can I fill a canvas with a different shape from the computer output?
The scaler can fit the layer to the canvas, but first choose whether to keep proportions with margins, crop, or create custom content. Filling the surface adds no source detail and may distort logos or text if their proportions change.
Why is only part of the screen showing an image?
If the pattern covers the whole surface, review layer, position, size, and input crop. If an area of the pattern is missing too, check mapping, port load, and connections during a planned interruption. Stretching the source cannot correct an incorrect assignment.
Can we send a cabinet file just to try it?
Identify the receiver, cabinet, and correct file first and preserve recovery. Sending RCFGx and saving to receivers change the system configuration; they are not a neutral test. Schedule work outside the show and validate the result before making it persistent.
Does quick configuration suit every screen?
The manual limits it to a regular screen with equal-resolution cabinets and supported data paths. For different sizes or routes, survey the layout and use the configuration suited to it; another event’s template does not replace that map.
How do we plan a laptop change without improvising?
Define source formats and connections, layer settings, and who performs each change. Rehearse actual content and an alternative source before doors open. An image preset alone does not establish signal, power, or controller backup.
Checks by symptom
| Complete pattern, cropped source | Check layer, crop, and position without changing the cabinet file. |
|---|---|
| Area missing from pattern too | Compare mapping, load, and actual port path before writing receivers. |
| New source has no picture | Test a supported format and known direct cable before adding converters or extenders. |
Use and safety
Preserve recovery before sending files, saving to receivers, or changing firmware. Confirm versions and compatibility for the exact system.
Prepare power, mounting, and ventilation for screen and rack under their documentation; the processor does not certify those conditions.
