Panasonic AW-UE150
Panasonic AW-UE150: control, video and power
Ask GLMedia about rental options for a PTZ camera system. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.

With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.
AW-UE150 is an integrated PTZ camera for live production and remote control. Its motorized 20x lens supports shots and movements prepared through a compatible controller.
This guide covers the original AW-UE150W/K, not AW-UE150A. Check regional suffix and firmware: features and protocol activation may differ by generation and release.
Video, control and power
- Video
- HDMI 2.0, 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI and MONI OUT have different formats and purposes. UHD output reaches 3840×2160 at 59.94p or 50p in documented modes; not every output carries UHD.
- Control
- LAN supports IP control and compatible streaming; RS-422 is serial control. Both use RJ45 connectors but are not interchangeable: do not connect a PoE-powered cable to RS-422.
- Power and reference
- Nominal 12 V DC input and compatible PoE++ power. G/L IN accepts supported BBS or tri-level reference for the format; it is not a program-picture input.
System requirements
Compatible controller or computer, defined network addressing, suitable power and a video path to the destination. Verify switch or injector models and total power budget as well as each port.
Mounting and retention must follow the model manual, with clear pan/tilt travel. Identify any optical module separately: a slot does not establish an installed module or its supported formats.
Basic preparation
- Record model, firmware, network, power and selected output; preserve existing settings before making changes.
- Connect IP control to LAN and check link, camera/controller IP addresses and subnet. Confirm authorized access without starting with a camera reset.
- Choose system frequency and format supported by output and destination. Check signal and synchronization before programming shots.
- Set exposure, white balance and focus under actual lighting. Prepare and test presets, including required movement and focus behavior.
- For IP video, verify mode, firmware and receiver. Test the full path separately from PTZ control; movement does not establish stream compatibility.
Three technical questions
SDI video works, but I cannot move the camera. What should I check?
Separate video from control: verify the cable is in LAN, link is present and camera/controller IP addresses and subnets are compatible. For a serial installation, check the corresponding RS-422 configuration and wiring.
An SDI picture does not validate networking or credentials. Do not swap RJ45 ports as a test or send PoE to the serial-control connector.
Can NDI carry the same UHD output?
The original model documents NDI HX2 without 4K pictures in that mode. A baseband output format does not define every stream capability. Check frequency and available modes with installed firmware.
Panasonic provides NDI activation firmware without the former upgrade license for AW-UE150W/K. Use the official note to plan activation; do not assume an old license-purchase instruction still applies or copy AW-UE150A features.
Do simultaneous DC and PoE++ connections guarantee continuity when DC is removed?
No. The manual gives external DC priority and warns that removing it while PoE++ is also connected restarts the camera and interrupts the picture. Do not use this as live backup switching.
Verify PoE++ supply compatibility, cabling and available power. The original manual specifies IEEE802.3bt Draft 2.0 without LLDP; a generic PoE switch label is insufficient.
Checks by symptom
| Symptom | Check | Path distinguished |
|---|---|---|
| Video without control | Correct LAN or RS-422, link and addressing. | Control versus baseband signal. |
| Expected stream is missing | IP mode, frequency, firmware and receiver. | Streaming versus PTZ control. |
| Picture drops during power change | DC priority and restart when switching to PoE++. | Supply transition versus video fault. |
| Sync notification | Camera format, supported reference and route. | Reference versus picture or movement. |
Limits and precautions
Operating ambient temperature: 0–40 °C. Use a compatible DC supply; do not confuse its input with PoE++ system voltage.
Switch off the corresponding supply before connecting or disconnecting cables as instructed by the manual. Do not force the motorized head or improvise mounting.
Do not start troubleshooting with updates, resets or another model configuration. Preserve version, settings and symptom conditions for a controlled test.
