Sound

QSC KC12

Choose inputs, mix output and listening positions before deciding quantity or volume.

Explore rental, purchase or technical support

Start with date, venue, intended use and a rough idea. We identify equipment, preparation and operation with open details; availability, compatibility and terms are confirmed in the proposal.

Model and connections

System
KC12S + KC12T; active three-way column system
Output A
Input A THRU without DSP
Output B
Assignable mix; selection and DSP matter

Speech and music at one or two cocktail-event locations

Define conversation, announcements and music areas. A second unit may distribute listening more effectively; guest counts and added power alone do not establish need. Compare one position, two points or a distributed system using geometry and routes.

GLMedia can assess rental/purchase, cabling, mix preparation and operation. More microphones or different zone balances may require a console and separate feeds; another column does not create another mix.

Show preparation

  1. Identify KC12 components, firmware and available power; use only documented assembly on stable ground.
  2. With levels protected, select inputs and the feed to the second location; record presets, assigned mix and level.
  3. Check speech, music and pauses in both areas; agree who controls changes.

Questions and solutions

The microphone works here but not at the second column: which output should I check?

Output A follows input A without DSP; it does not automatically carry every source. Check ASSIGN OUTPUT B selection for a mixed feed. Compare each signal stage, cable and receiving input before raising volume; verify speech and music separately.

Can we mix speech and music without a console?

Local mixing and Bluetooth are available; count simultaneous sources and required controls. Built-in mixing may suit a few sources; compare an external console for several microphones, monitor feeds or different deliveries. Identify inputs, cables and the operator in the proposal.

Will two columns automatically fix a weak rear area?

No. Check positions, obstructions and listening at the front and rear. More level may worsen the near area. We can assess relocation or distributed points and alignment preparation; another event’s delay does not validate this setup.

Does the music preset also suit speeches?

Presets, contour, EQ, sub level and scenes affect results. Record the state and compare speech/music during rehearsal at controlled levels. A saved scene does not know the new room; prepare transitions without resetting during the program.

Can we use only the base or add a subwoofer?

The guide requires SUB ONLY MODE when operating KC12S without KC12T. For an external sub, distinguish THRU A from the post-DSP mix and use the documented function for the exact system. Sub settings do not transfer to a second column; configuration, location and verification belong in the proposal.

The app or level behaves differently: update before the show?

Identify firmware and applicable release notes. QSC documents control changes and fixes in2.0.28; that does not establish every anomaly’s cause. Plan maintenance out of service with recovery and route testing; consider prepared local control or a wired source for continuity.

Prepare a proposal

Send date, venue, approximate sources, areas and speech/DJ/live-music plans. A sketch is enough to begin; positions, power and operation can be refined.
