Read the exact hardware and firmware. Spectera is a system family; this starting guide does not prescribe one RF band or deployment.
Connections and required equipment
Trace DAD assignment and mobile pairing separately from audio inputs/outputs. A SEK may carry Mic/Line, IEM or both, according to configuration.
Prepare the system
- Record versions, band entitlement, RF plan and antenna assignment.
- Document the link mode and source/destination of each audio direction.
- Test coverage and listening level using the actual modes and occupied resources.
Questions and troubleshooting
The device is paired: why no audio?
Pairing does not complete the audio route.
- Check the mobile RF-channel assignment and active link direction.
- Trace Mic/Line source or IEM destination and the selected station audio interface.
- If RF is assigned but the intended audio endpoint has no meter, inspect its source/interface assignment rather than pairing again. Verify Mic/Line to console and IEM to earphones separately at protected levels; unresolved link states require saved system/version details for Sennheiser support.
Why does a mode change affect the available links?
Modes trade resources, latency and transmission characteristics.
- Read the current mode table for each direction.
- Recalculate the whole allocation; do not combine maximum capacity and minimum latency from different modes.
- If the requested link does not fit the selected allocation, the missing resource is a planning constraint, not proof of a broken bodypack. Agree an allocation supported by the current table outside use, then verify every required link and listening path; escalate unexplained discrepancies to support.
Can an EW-D or D6000 transmitter pair directly?
Narrowband transmitters do not become Spectera links.
- Identify the exact supported mobile family and band.
- Coordinate coexisting systems separately using current manufacturer guidance.
- If the proposed mobile is outside the supported Spectera family, stop pairing attempts and keep its own compatible system. Verify the coordinated systems independently and together in rehearsal; unknown band or coexistence conditions require the RF coordinator’s review.
Choose the next check
| Observation | Next check | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Paired but silent | RF assignment and audio path | Direction, source, destination |
| Capacity or latency mismatch | Mode and resource allocation | All active links |
| Coverage issue | DAD assignment and RF status | Location, mode, conditions |
Precautions
- Use the authorized regional spectrum and exact system documentation.
- Protect hearing when checking IEM outputs; start with listening level reduced.
- Do not reassign RF, change entitlement or update firmware during operation.
