Soundcraft Ui24R: rack mixing, control and recording
Separate control access, audio mixing and recording to prepare a clear operating plan for live events.
Ask about rental, purchase or integration
Tell us how you plan to use it, along with the date and venue if known. We can assess equipment, integration, preparation, and technical support. The proposal will confirm configuration, availability, and terms.
Live-event applications
Consider it for a band or an event that benefits from rack-based connections. Define who operates, from where and how they recover control if their device fails.
Pre-show preparation
- Identify firmware, browser and the intended network. Label each connection by port; do not treat cascade ports as generic network links.
- Prepare and rehearse an alternative control connection using an approved path. Document addressing and credentials privately.
- Map inputs, house mix, monitors and computer returns separately. Check mute and patch before opening outputs.
- Choose direct USB recording or a DAW for the project. Check media, port and computer compatibility against official support; listen to a short take and its return.
Troubleshooting
If the browser disconnects, listen to a known output before concluding audio has also stopped. If audio continues, recover control through the rehearsed path. If both fail, note power and system state and use the planned backup; avoid an automatic factory reset.
Alternatives and backup
Evaluate CQ-18T when local screen operation matters; compare XR18 or another mixer by inputs, buses, recording and workflow. Two recordings from the same mixer do not make the show mix independent.
What we need for a proposal
Start with stage and operator-position photos, the event program, or a rough connection diagram. If available, add the input patch, monitor mixes, control devices, and recording needs. We can assess a rack system, control network, and staffing, or a mixer with local controls if that better suits the show.
Frequently asked questions
Does losing Wi-Fi mean losing audio?
Check a known output: loss of Wi-Fi control and loss of audio are different faults. If audio continues, recover control through the rehearsed alternative connection; if audio has also failed, use the planned backup.
Is the USB storage port the same as the interface port?
They are not functionally interchangeable. Identify the documented port and workflow for storage versus computer connection.
Does a DAW meter guarantee playback through the PA?
No. Capture and return have separate paths; check return assignment, channel, mute and destination before the event.
