TOMCAT Medium-Duty Plated: identify the series and load case
Check the plated connection, module code and loading-sheet scope before planning a TOMCAT span.
Identify the truss
Ask GLMedia about rental options for your event. The proposal is subject to availability, confirmation of the model and configuration, and the venue’s technical requirements.
This guide covers standard Medium-Duty 20.5 × 20.5 in Plated. Record the label and module code; Spigoted, Guardian, Center Chord and Studio variants need their own data.
Section and connection references
- Example module
- TC 2020-120B is the 10 ft standard module in the linked data sheet.
- Interfaces
- Bolted end plates and mechanical rigging attachments. Verify the required electrical bonding before energizing equipment attached to the structure.
The linked sheet uses L/100 deflection limits for its stated static simple-span case. Confirm orientation, support and load positions, module arrangement and repetitive-use conditions. It does not approve arbitrary suspension layouts.
Parts and supporting documents
Specify the exact modules, corners, approved hardware and rigging points with the responsible designer. Obtain the applicable product-specific manual before assembly.
Prepare the configuration
- Record part numbers, revisions, span and every load position.
- Arrange inspection and verify the selected load case against its complete notes.
- Keep the system unloaded until connections and the rigging plan are verified.
Three technical questions
Can I use a Spigoted table for the same-size Plated truss?
No. Match the connection, series and revision. Similar overall dimensions do not establish equivalent strength or compatible hardware.
The end-plate holes will not align. Can I pull them together with bolts?
Do not force the joint. Isolate the affected modules and check identity, orientation and visible damage. Refer the cause to a qualified person before reuse.
Does the table cover an offset LED load or cantilever?
The sheet’s basic case does not establish approval for those arrangements. Provide offsets, loads and support geometry for qualified design review; do not add independent table maxima.
L/100 describes the deflection limit used for the stated table; it is not a safety factor or a universal payload allowance. Mark each support and load position, including lateral offsets, on the drawing so the reviewer can determine whether that table case applies.
Limits before installation
Do not repair, drill or straighten structural members as a field fix. Hardware and tightening instructions must match the applicable manual and product; no universal torque is supplied here.
