Wenger StageTek: legs, deck connections and load configurations

Prepare an indoor StageTek stage by identifying its legs, connectors and load configuration; check movement and surface treatments before use.

Identify the platform

Ask GLMedia about rental options for your event. The proposal is subject to availability, confirmation of the model and configuration, and the venue’s technical requirements.

StageTek is Wenger’s indoor modular staging system for performance groups. Identify the actual deck size, finish and leg type before planning a flat stage, seated riser or camera platform. StageTek Outdoor is a separate product.

What the published specifications cover

Deck example
4 × 8 ft (1219 × 2438 mm); other sizes and surfaces exist.
Supports
Fixed, adjustable-height and telescopic legs are distinct references.
Connections
Leg sockets use hand-tightening knobs; adjoining assemblies need the connectors shown for their layout.

For its 4 × 8 ft test configuration, the technical sheet distinguishes 125 lbf/ft² standard uniform live load with four legs from 150 lbf/ft² heavy-duty arrangements with a fifth leg where required or added stiffeners. These are different configurations, not interchangeable ratings for any stage. Have point loads, movement and the complete support design reviewed separately.

Deck, supports and accessories

A deck, a leg, a deck connector, a stabilizer brace and a guardrail perform different jobs. A leg storage clip does not connect adjoining decks. Use identified accessories and the layout for the actual height and activity.

Prepare the configuration

  1. Record deck and leg references, finished heights, furniture and access routes. Match each connector and brace to the documented layout before assembly.
  2. Keep the work area unloaded. Verify that legs are fully seated and retained as described in the manual; check adjoining connections and inspect for worn or damaged parts. Do not improvise a clamp for an unidentified component.
  3. Obtain the applicable bracing layout and accessory instructions; do not select bracing solely from one height number. Keep the surface clean and dry.
  4. If the general guide, owner’s manual or project layout disagree, keep the affected configuration out of use until the requirement is resolved for the actual system.

Three technical questions

Why does the stage move even though every deck has legs?

Isolate the unloaded stage. Compare leg seating, retention, adjoining connections and bracing with the actual layout. The manual warns that adjoining decks must be connected. A connector that fits around a leg is not automatically the correct generation or part.

If identity or bracing requirements remain unclear, keep the stage out of use and resolve the layout with the supplier. Do not judge readiness by stepping onto it.

Does adding a fifth leg automatically give any StageTek deck a higher rating?

No. The published heavy-duty configurations depend on the specified deck and support or stiffener arrangement. Record the exact deck, leg kit, loads and positions; compare them with the technical sheet and project documentation. Do not turn a deck rating into a per-leg or caster allowance.

Can I cure footstep noise by gluing lining underneath or screwing a paintable skin on top?

First inspect the unloaded assembly for loose or damaged components and identify its finish. Noise alone does not identify a defect or establish a modification. Have the proposed finish or acoustic treatment reviewed for that deck, including its fixings, edges and fire requirements.

Do not drill, glue insulation or choose a solvent from an anecdote. The manual calls for clean, dry surfaces and excludes oil-based cleaners, waxing and polishing; it does not supply a universal retrofit recipe.

Before anyone uses the stage

Use the indoor system within its intended environment. A guardrail is not a chair stop, and a connector does not replace bracing. Stop use for movement, damaged parts or an undocumented change; require the relevant inspection before handover.
