Model and application

Manufacturer / model
Yamaha TF1.
Mixing channels
32 mono + 2 stereo + 2 return mixing channels.
Local analog I/O
16 local combo inputs; 16 XLR outputs.
USB audio
USB audio: 34 inputs / 34 outputs at 48 kHz.
Surface / expansion
16 + 1 master faders; optional NY64-D for Dante.

Local sockets and mixing channels are different counts. The control-network connector is not a substitute for an installed Dante card.

Connections and required equipment

Use local inputs/outputs, rear USB TO HOST for a computer, and the distinct top-panel USB functions for playback or console data. Remote Dante I/O requires NY64-D and a compatible rack; confirm versions rather than transferring another rack’s setup.

Prepare the system

  1. Save the show and record card, rack, firmware and topology.
  2. Protect outputs; trace one agreed input through channel, bus and physical destination.
  3. Compare Quick Config and actual routes before changing either; coordinate shared devices.

Questions and troubleshooting

The rack is visible but the channel is silent. What next?

Device visibility does not select the channel input.

  1. Confirm NY64-D and the intended subscription.
  2. Compare INPUT SELECT with SLOT, then channel and bus meters. Test one protected route without rebuilding the network.
  3. If selecting the agreed SLOT source restores the channel meter, the selection was the missing stage; verify bus and physical destination next. If it remains absent, record subscription, clock and rack input state for the network operator rather than resetting Quick Config.
Audio passes but rack gain is unavailable. Why?

HA control and audio transport are separate.

  1. Identify the rack model and its permitted control arrangement.
  2. Inspect HA Control in SLOT SETUP and coordinate with other operators. Do not toggle Quick Config blindly or use phantom as a test.
  3. If meters and audio pass while HA remains unavailable, keep the working route and investigate control compatibility/ownership. Verify one agreed gain change outside the show; stop if another console shares the preamp or control remains unexplained.
Why does the USB device not do the expected job?

The rear computer port and top-panel playback/data ports have different roles.

  1. Identify computer audio, playback or show-data storage first.
  2. Compare the correct connector, source selection and computer routing. Save existing data before any load operation.
  3. If the intended source meter appears on the correct port, the connector/source mismatch is resolved; verify playback at the destination without loading show data. If the computer still detects no supported interface, record OS, driver, cable and settings for Yamaha support.
