2110/100G infrastructure: checks before selection

Ask GLMedia about rental options for an IP audiovisual system. We review availability, configuration, and alternatives for your event.

Separate the dependencies

With the date, location, and intended use, we can review which equipment and combination can be offered. You can inquire before measurements, drawings, or the final schedule are ready.

A network connection alone does not establish the audiovisual path. Equipment selection requires separate consideration of media transport, PTP timing, NMOS discovery and connection, control, and storage.

Start with planned sources and destinations before the final design is ready. We can organize dependencies and questions for the exact combination.

Media, control, and storage

Media
Identify sender, receiver, format, and video links. Check optics, cables, and capacity along each path, including backup paths.
Timing and control
Record PTP reference, domain, and lock status; then check NMOS discovery and subscriptions. Working control does not prove media reception.
Recording and storage
Separate video networking, storage connections, and resulting files. ISO Recorder 100G video and storage ports serve different purposes.

What to share

Share sources, destinations, formats, audio, and recording requirements. Include the interruption you need to cover.

List models, firmware, switches, optics, and cables. If these are undecided, we can prepare a check list.

Preparing the comparison

  1. Draw media, control, reference, and storage paths separately.
  2. Check exact documentation for each combination: ports, formats, multicast, timing, and bandwidth. Do not add redundant links as extra usable capacity.
  3. Check link and PTP status, then discovery, connection, and reception of each source in its expected format.
  4. Rehearse picture, audio, and recording together. Review resulting files and planned recovery outside the live event.

Three technical questions

Does a 100G link guarantee interoperability?

Nominal speed does not establish compatibility of ports, formats, optics, firmware, or timing. Check each combination and path.

Do redundant links mean two recording copies?

Redundant transport pairs may carry the same streams. They do not automatically create independent files or double usable capacity.

Network protection, another capture, and a file copy need separate checks.

Control sees the device but there is no picture. Where should I start?

Record sender, receiver, format, link status, PTP lock, and subscription. Check these stages before changing global network settings.

We can plan a bounded test using documentation for the exact models. There is no universal switch configuration for every system.

Installation and limits

Preserve configurations and topology before network or firmware changes. Test outside the live system.

Do not infer PoE, conversion, or camera control from connector appearance. Check the documented model and function.

Plan power, ventilation, mounting, and cabling for the exact equipment and applicable documentation.

Sources and context

Official guides describe product-specific functions and settings. System compatibility requires checks of actual models, versions, networking, and formats.
