PLAYDECK: edition, playlist and playback preparation
A useful playlist needs more than loaded files: every piece needs a call, destination and ending action. Identify the version and edition first when evaluating an event configuration.
Documented application and version
This guide covers PLAYDECK for Windows by JOY event & media GmbH & Co. KG. The official history identifies v4.3b7 as the stable production release dated October 22, 2026. Record the installed build, Windows version, GPU, driver and devices.
Web manual sections do not always specify a build. Compare controls with the installation before acting. Preserve the original project and a copy with approved media; the running order and intended destinations are enough to start an inquiry.
Choose the edition by requirements
The official table distinguishes Lite: one channel; Plus: two; Studio: eight. These are edition capacities, not guarantees of physical connectors or machine performance. Confirm licensing and each channel’s path with the manufacturer.
For a presentation with one program, start with that requirement. If another display needs different simultaneous content, record it as another program and review edition, formats and devices. Avoid adding ingest or streaming requirements to a playback-only scope.
Three questions before calling video
What is prepared, and what is on output? Identify channel, selected clip, CUE state and program content. Rehearse loading and playback with agreed calls; preview alone does not verify output.
What happens at the end? Review playout rules and the ending action for each clip or block. Record whether it continues, waits or returns to the intended background. Test the complete ending and next call.
What appears after STOP? The control manual relates STOP to the configured background. Compare that behavior with the approved background, watching picture and listening at the receiver. A button’s name does not establish the return behavior.
Proposed scenario: three presentation videos
Prepare a copy with opening, product video and closing; record file, duration, frame rate, audio, channel and destination for each. Add the agreed holding background and define who calls each piece.
Rehearse the full opening, an extended wait, another clip selection, ending and STOP. Observe first and last frames, aspect ratio, audio and physical destination. If one piece differs, compare it with known media before transcoding the full delivery. Record observations, the settings used and pending checks.

Prepare your project
Tell us how many pieces need to play at once and what should happen between videos. Start with photos, a sketch or a draft running order, even before models or dimensions are final. GLMedia can help assess equipment rental or purchase, output paths, integration and technical support; edition and licensing are reviewed for the intended use.
