Barco E2: preparing an AUX output for stage confidence
Plan confidence as a specific destination, output and source. An E2 AUX can carry a stage feed when capacity, card and format support the path.
Notes, camera or program source → E2 input → AUX destination with appropriate capacity → Output configuration → card connector → Conversion/transport when needed → monitor
Scenario: composed audience image and presenter notes
Generate the notes view on the computer and treat it as a separate source from program. AUX routes that source; it does not extract notes from the audience slide. Identify original E2, Gen 2 or other variant and cards before applying the relevant manual.
What to check in AUX
In the Event Master manual, AUX adopts its assigned output format. Aux Capacity limits what can enter its scaler; it is not simply the monitor resolution label. AUX has no composition layers. To combine notes, clock and camera, generate that composition upstream or evaluate a Screen destination with sufficient resources.
Proposed setup and test
- Save the show and record card, connector and monitor-supported format. Verify the exact configuration’s resources.
- In Configuration, start with a configured output and assign it to AUX. Give confidence a clear name and review Aux Capacity.
- Choose aspect handling: All preserves the image with possible bars; Center Cut crops. Check note boundaries and text with a chart.
- Assign the source in Programming. Check Preview/Program, lock state and Toggle before calling the change.
- Test a pattern and real content at the end of the path. Rehearse a program change that must leave confidence stable and another that should change it.
Diagnosis
For wrong content, trace source → AUX → physical output before changing EDID. For cropped content, check scaling and capacity against the full source. For a final-link failure, test a compatible direct output. Preserve previous settings and run these tests off program.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use any available output?
Check documented card, grouping and Aux Capacity rules. A free connector does not prove sufficient resources or monitor compatibility.
Does changing an AUX source always wait for a transition?
The manual allows changes to unlocked AUX Program. Verify lock state, Preview/Program and transition behavior; do not assume every change stays in preview.
Does this make E2 a notes generator?
The presentation application generates notes. E2 receives and routes that image; AUX cannot reconstruct the content if the source fails.
