Suspended LED, displays and lights: what belongs in the inventory

A screen’s dimensions or a fixture count do not yet describe everything proposed for suspension. Each item in an AV proposal needs a link to its accessories, location and mass documentation. This guide adds LED, display and lighting questions to the general inventory worksheet.

LED: turn per-panel data into an assembly inventory

ROE Visual’s official BP2V2 page publishes 9.35 kg / 20.61 lb per panel for that model. The same page ties hanging conditions to official hardware and refers to the manual. Per-panel data is not the mass of a complete screen or evidence that your project configuration has been reviewed.

Identify the panel variant and quantity, layout on the sketch, bars or frames and every vendor-defined accessory. Record attached cables and any processor or other equipment proposed for suspension. Ask the LED vendor and rigging lead to define their inventory boundaries to avoid omissions and double counting. If the model remains undecided, its unit mass also remains open.

Displays and mounts need separate documentation

Request the display’s complete model number and mass for its intended configuration. Record orientation and incorporated accessories. For the mounting system, identify the mount, adapters, column and applicable components with their documents. A matching VESA pattern describes an interface; review also needs the intended use, manufacturer conditions and complete system.

For example, Chief’s MCM1U/LCM1U manual 8800-003035 Rev00, dated April 2018, describes a separately supplied extension column and mount use conditions. It shows why a mount name is not a complete component list. This example establishes neither compatibility with a specific display nor a building connection. Those decisions require review of the models and project.

Lighting: record the optical configuration and added parts

The ETC Source Four LED Series 3 Rev I 2024-05 datasheet lists masses with and without a barrel, plus shipping masses, on page 10. Its note excludes mounting hardware and the lens tube. Copying one row without that note can leave parts out of the inventory.

Identify the light-engine body, barrel where applicable, lens tube, accessories and cables for the proposed configuration. Ask the vendor to confirm what the body’s stated mass includes and which components need separate rows. Record clamps and additional elements defined by the system lead with their sources. Coordinate optical selection, lighting control and power with the specialists responsible for those areas.

Share a common revision of equipment and accessories

Use the same equipment ID in the inventory, sketch and vendor list. If a display gains a media player or a fixture changes lens, update the configuration and linked documents. A new accessory needs a visible entry even when the overall drawing looks unchanged.

The supplemental worksheet organizes those differences without calculating suspension. Attach it to the general inventory and seek confirmation of open data before describing the assembly record as complete. GLMedia can help define the AV scope and coordinate information with equipment vendors and the rigging team.

Common questions

Is panel count multiplied by the specification value enough?

That describes only the identified panels. An assembly inventory also needs bars, frames, accessories and cables with verified inclusions. It does not determine point loads.

Does a matching VESA mount authorize the suspended display?

Review needs exact models, intended application, all components, and system and venue conditions. The pattern alone does not resolve those requirements.

Do I only update the quantity when replacing a fixture lens?

Update the optical model and its documented mass, along with other affected fields. The body’s name does not necessarily describe the complete fixture.
