Lighting and control

ADJ WMX1 Mk2

Prepare WMX1 Mk2 with matching profiles and groups; distinguish licensed universes, physical outputs, MIDI controls and test values.

Ask GLMedia about renting ADJ WMX1 Mk2 for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.

Standalone DMX controller for creating and triggering color, movement and beam effects during a performance. A computer running WTOOLS supports management, backups and compatible functions; it does not need to remain connected to play a prepared show.

Prepare your rental inquiry

Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.

You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.

Features and connections

It has 2 XLR outputs with 3 pins and 2 XLR connectors with 5 pins; one can operate as an input with WLINK. Physical connectors do not determine the number of enabled universes.

ADJ advertises 2 base universes, expandable to 4 through licenses. Check actual entitlements in WTOOLS; WLINK/DMX IN and visualization are separate options.

Prepare the system

  1. Use the supplied power adapter and cable. For computer power, the guide requires USB 3.0 or higher; a USB 2.0 port may be insufficient. Check activation using the unit’s onscreen instructions.
  2. In Fixtures, select the exact manufacturer, model and channel mode. Match the fixture address and assign a group; if the profile is missing, check its chart and the library before building one.
  3. In Settings, check universe-to-XLR mapping. Test intensity, colors and position with the movement area clear; save the project and an external backup before changing firmware.

Questions and troubleshooting

Do some fixtures produce incorrect colors or functions?

A correct address cannot compensate for the wrong profile.

  1. Compare model, variant and channel mode against the fixture chart. Also check universe and assigned XLR output.
  2. In DMX Values, use a Test value to check a channel with the fixture under control; release the test by restoring its current value.
  3. Do not confuse Test with Default: Default changes the starting value. Avoid Beam Editor changes or reset channels until the map is understood.
Does the MIDI controller fail to trigger the intended action?

MIDI input uses USB-A and requires a compatible device.

  1. The manual supports standard MIDI controllers; devices requiring a custom USB driver are incompatible. Do not expect the power port to perform the same function.
  2. In Mappings, match Note or CC type, channel and device index; use LEARN with a single identified command.
  3. Check the assigned target and LED feedback messages. Receiving clock does not establish that a button mapping is correct.
Does front wash enter effects or remain on during Blackout?

Group assignments and exclusions affect the result.

  1. Place front wash in a separate group and check which effects and Flash controls apply to it.
  2. Check Exclude Blackout: an excluded group may remain on. Test blackout coverage before the show.
  3. Save the project and check whether presets recall group dimmers. Do not perform a factory reset to correct an assignment without backups.

Quick reference

The controller has no fixed fixture DMX profile: each light supplies its channel map. Available functions depend on firmware and licenses.
