Information to prepare this item
- Model, revision, DMX personality, channel count and control version.
- Universes, DMX/network path, power and mounting accessories specified by the manufacturer.
Match the mode to the console profile
Betopper lists 15, 24 and 32-channel DMX modes for the LM1915R. The LM1915P is a different version. Confirm the unit’s mode and the corresponding manual’s channel map before choosing the profile.
Record the universe, start address and channel footprint. Test one unit with that profile and check dimmer, color, movement and any ring functions included in the chosen mode before copying the patch across the setup.
Test scenes and the control path
Rehearse the real scenes from the console through the cabling and nodes you will use. Compare each unit’s response, colors, movement and the result in the planned areas; a light turning on does not confirm full control.
| Point | What to record | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| Mode and patch | Revision, profile, mode, universe and start address | Compare one unit’s functions with the manual’s channel map |
| Scenes and position | Planned areas, colors, movements and ring functions | Play the scenes and check coverage and movement clearance |
| Signal and continuity | DMX path, nodes, power and agreed backup | Rehearse recovery off air and check the final scene |
If responses are erratic, compare mode, profile and address before changing several settings. Isolate one segment or unit during rehearsal and check cabling, routing and termination using the DMX guide. If cameras will be used, check scenes with the actual recording setup.
Prepare mounting with the model’s documentation
The manufacturer’s sheet specifies IP20 and indoor use. Agree on the position, support and accessories specified for the unit, with room for movement and ventilation. Plan power using the nameplate data and proposed setup.
Save the patch and show version used in rehearsal. Define the failure the backup must cover, who switches, and which node, signal or power supply would remain shared.
