Preparation and troubleshooting
ChamSys MQ250M Stadium: conference cues and show adaptation
Combine scene operation and fixture adaptation to prepare a verifiable file for the available system.
Proposed test, scope and alternatives
MQ250M Stadium integrates processing and motorized playbacks. The product page distinguishes 64 universes and a 128-universe upgrade option; confirm enabled capacity on the proposed unit. Universe count is not a physical connector count: specify nodes/receivers and network destinations.
We propose front, background and effects groups, useful palettes and cue stacks for arrival, presentation and video. Define operator and recovery. This surface may suit multiple scenes with live adjustments; a simpler system may cover fixed looks.
For incorrect imported fixture behavior, separate address, mode and personality. MagicQ1.9.8.x MORPH HEAD can transfer programming to a chosen replacement type, but cannot guarantee the same look. A larger footprint can leave replacements unpatched until a suitable block is assigned.
- Preserve an original and identified working copy; record software, models, modes and enabled universes. Loading a whole show differs from importing structure or palettes.
- In PATCH/CHOOSE HEAD, compare manufacturer, model and mode; inspect channels with VIEW MODES. Check the replacement’s DMX table before applying it throughout the rig.
- Propose a sample morph on the copy. Review address, footprint and overlaps; test position, color, dimmer and shutter with known values in a clear area.
- Review affected palettes and cues. A listed fixture does not validate ranges/effects. Record adapted functions and programming still required.
- Compare show line, network output type/destination, enable state and receiving node. Deliver approved file, map and separate pending/completed rehearsal record. We can assess console, adaptation, distribution and operator.
Start with your date, venue and approximate needs. We can assess equipment, configuration and operation within an agreed scope.
Does bringing a file eliminate programming?
It may save preparation, but actual fixtures, modes, software, patch and cues need review.
Does morphing reproduce the exact show?
No. The manual notes differences between fixtures. Check each function and visual result; transferred programming is a starting point.
Why are replacements left unpatched?
A larger footprint may leave them unpatched to avoid unsuitable addressing. Review free blocks and addresses before operation.
What starts a proposal?
Date, venue, program, approximate equipment and an available file. We can assess MQ250M or another console, adaptation and operation without a final patch; capacity and availability require confirmation.
