Preparation and troubleshooting
QuickQ 20: clear scenes for a hotel stage
Prepare a simple handoff with named looks and an orderly check when a scene behaves differently.
Proposed test, scope and alternatives
QuickQ 20 supports two universes. We propose presenter and background zones, with labeled arrival, panel, video and closing looks and agreed timing. Fixed looks may suit simpler playback; continuous changes may call for an operator.
Manual 13 describes Theatre playback 1 as a sequence and playback 2 as a crossfader. Its recording section specifies that 3–10 remain chases by default. Check each list rather than assuming the mode sets every playback.
- Save a copy and record software, patch, modes and output. Assign each moment to a control and identify who may edit.
- Rehearse each transition and return to presenter lighting. Record whether it waits for Go, follows automatically or loops as a chase.
- For unexpected results, first check fixture/address/mode, selection/faders, Grand Master and playback state. Compare one fixture with known values before editing every scene.
- During a controlled test, release manual captures as documented: lower multifunction faders and Clear. Higher cue intensity wins through HTP; other attributes follow the latest command. Do not delete cues to fix control priority.
- Deliver the file, operating sheet and recovery plan. Check the selected access level without changing venue passwords.
Start with your date, venue and approximate needs. We can assess equipment, configuration and operation within an agreed scope.
Why does a different color return?
Manual capture or a later command may remain active. Isolate the source during rehearsal; this does not prove file corruption.
Does lowering a fader always release a sequence?
No. Theatre playback 1 has a specific release method in the manual. Rehearse and document the exit procedure.
Should I record again when a scene does not respond?
Check patch, active controls, masters and priorities first. Preserve a copy before changing content.
What can be proposed?
We can assess console, scene preparation, distribution and operation. Start with date, hotel and approximate program without a final plan or list; scope and availability need confirmation.
