Lighting and control

Chauvet Professional Ovation Rêve E-3

Prepare the indoor RGBAM ellipsoidal with its correct DMX profile, compatible optics and recorded dimming and color settings.

Ask GLMedia about renting Chauvet Professional Ovation Rêve E-3 for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.

Model and purpose

Manufacturer
Chauvet Professional
Model
Chauvet Professional Ovation Rêve E-3
Variant
OVATIONREVEE3; IP20, dry indoor use
Light
RGBAM; manual focus and optional lens tubes
Power
100–240 VAC, 50/60 Hz; non-dimmed circuit
Control
3- and 5-pin XLR DMX, RDM; USB for firmware

An LED ellipsoidal for theater, camera and scenery, with framing blades, color mixing and adjustable whites. The body needs a lens tube suited to throw and coverage. Rêve E-3 IP has different protection and documentation; a protected power connector does not make this fixture rain-ready.

Prepare your rental inquiry

Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.

You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.

Features and connections

RGBAM combines red, green, blue, amber and mint. Virtual colors and color temperatures are internal mixes: they do not guarantee an exact gel or real lamp match.

Gobo rotator control requires a compatible accessory; a DMX channel does not establish that a rotator is fitted.

Manual Rev14 includes XY Basic and XY Extended. Confirm that fixture firmware provides them before selecting that console personality.

Prepare the system

  1. Confirm model, firmware, lens tube and accessories. Set focus, blades and yoke with the fixture secure; disconnect and allow cooling before handling filters.
  2. Select the exact personality in DMX Channel and its start in DMX Address. Match the console and reserve the complete footprint.
  3. Record Dimmer Curve, Dimmer Mode, Red Shift, Color Calibration and Fan Mode. Keep console testing separate from Master/Slave operation; do not use both together.

Questions and troubleshooting

Do modes with the same channel count respond differently?

14Ch1 and 14Ch2 have different functions and channel orders.

  1. 14Ch1 combines dimmer and RGBAM with virtual wheel, temperature, program and control functions. 14Ch2 uses fine dimmer and RGBAM, with strobe and rotator. Select the exact personality.
  2. 6Ch has direct color channels and no master dimmer; 1Ch dims the locally selected mix. Do not transfer controls between modes.
  3. HSV uses 4 channels because it includes the rotator. Check footprint and attributes before diagnosing an extra channel or fixture fault.
Do fades or whites differ between fixtures?

First compare settings, signal and firmware on the same surface.

  1. Check Red Shift: when enabled, it changes dimming appearance to emulate halogen. Also compare Color Calibration and curve; preserve calibration settings before editing.
  2. For 16-bit dimmer control, the manual recommends Dimmer Mode Off in 12Ch, 14Ch2 and 18Ch. Verify coarse and fine console channels.
  3. Off and Silent Fan Modes reduce output and increase housing temperature. For changes over time, check ventilation; for camera use, test PWM with actual frame rate and shutter settings.
Should the soft-focus filter stay in with gobos or deep cuts?

The manufacturer restricts this combination because of reflected heat.

  1. Do not use the soft-focus filter with gobos or large shutter cuts. It reduces visible LED imaging when looking at the lens; it is not a general solution for diffusion.
  2. Disconnect and allow cooling before fitting or removing it. Follow its orientation and remove any protective film; avoid fingerprints.
  3. Do not force a warped filter against the blades. Inspect and replace the accessory as instructed before operating again.

Terms on this page

DMX
A data protocol controlling lighting functions; each model defines what its channels mean.
RDM
Management communication for querying or configuring compatible equipment over a compatible path.
PWM
Modulation of LED output; interaction with a camera may produce recorded bands or variations.
Personality
A control mode defining the channels and functions used by a fixture.
