eDMX4 MAX: four zones with unambiguous universes
Prepare a map that makes each console-to-output route testable.
Proposed test, scope and alternatives
The reference is XLR eDMX4 MAX0134, not MAX DIN or ISODIN22. It has four configurable IN/OUT ports and three/five-pin options; verify the unit. Four output zones require four OUT ports; assigning an input changes the design.
The manual maps universe 1 to Art-Net00:0:0. Record protocol and numbering at both ends; similar display numbers do not prove a match. Do not readdress all fixtures to fix a universe offset.
- Preserve settings/firmware. Map A–D to zone, function, show universe, network identifier and receiver, retaining both displayed numbering conventions.
- Verify model-specific power and network. The product accepts 802.3af/at PoE or USB-C. Do not copy DIN voltage/isolation assumptions.
- Test one port at a time with a known source/fixture. If the adjacent zone responds, compare protocol/universe before individual channels.
- If functions shift within one fixture, check address, mode and Channel Offset separately from total network loss.
- Document results/recovery. We can assess node, connectors, switch/power, configuration and operation; four zones need not share one lighting design.
Start with your date, venue and approximate needs. We can assess equipment, configuration and operation within an agreed scope.
Does Art-Net0 always mean show universe 0?
No. This manual maps universe 1 to Art-Net00:0:0. Check the console display convention.
Are USB and Ethernet diagnosed the same way?
No. USB also depends on MAX support in the application. Choose a route and record software before testing.
Will reset fix numbering?
Compare the map and save settings first. Reset can remove useful configuration without resolving numbering conventions.
What starts a distribution quote?
Date, venue, approximate zones and console. We can assess network, node or alternative and setup without a final plan; accessories, availability and scope need confirmation.
