Preparation and troubleshooting
grandMA3 compact XT: conference preparation and network output
Organize the show, capacity and destinations before load-in to assess console, programming and operation as one system.
Proposed test, scope and alternatives
The reference is compact XT 4010505 with integrated processing. Current specifications list 8,192 grandMA3 parameters, 4,096 in Mode 2, six DMX OUT and one DMX IN. It is not an onPC command wing XT. Record software mode and release before comparing capacity.
For a conference, we propose functional groups for speakers, panel table, background and audience. In grandMA3, a Group stores selection and order; a preset holds reusable values that cues can reference. Name them by purpose and organize arrival, presentation, video and closing cues in an identified sequence. These proposed looks depend on the lighting design.
Session and distribution form another system layer. In grandMA3 2.5, members need matching Streaming Version, and the Master station sends network DMX. A node adds connectivity; it does not replace a processing unit when expanding parameters in a console-based system.
- Preserve the received file and work on a copy. Patch exact models, modes, addresses and universes; compare used/available parameters before confirming the setup.
- Prepare named groups, presets and cues around the program. Test a preset change on a copy and inspect referencing cues before applying it throughout the show.
- Record Master, session, Location, Streaming Version, interface and IP addresses. Map each universe to a local port, MA node or Art-Net/sACN destination and expected receiver.
- For missing output, separate cue calculation, enabled destination mapping and actual receiver data. Compare one test circuit before changing session or patch.
- Propose critical-cue and file/control recovery rehearsals with the operator. Deliver an approved copy, map and responsibilities; saving a file does not verify console switchover.
Start with your date, venue and approximate needs. We can assess equipment, configuration and operation within an agreed scope.
Does a Group store a complete look?
It stores fixture selection and order. Values and playback require presets and cues; selecting a group is not recalling a look.
Can my grandMA2 show transfer unchanged?
Mode 2 and grandMA3 are different environments. Identify source/destination formats and modes before committing; preserve the original and verify compatibility and cues.
Why can I see another station but get no network output?
Visibility does not establish membership, Master or output mapping. Check release, session, interface, protocol and universe before blaming the file.
What belongs in a conference proposal?
We can assess console, show preparation, distribution, programming and operator, or suitable venue control. Start with date, venue and an approximate program; availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.
