PIXELHUE Q8: output groups and monitoring
Before adding Q8 confidence, identify the output card and distinguish copied connectors from independent destinations.
Notes or video source → Q8: identified screen and output group → Compatible video port → monitor; optical branch only to a supported system
Show scenario
With LED and confidence, the presenter needs notes while the operator needs multiview. Reserve content and a path for each; a copy of LED content does not add Presenter View.
Verified connections and functions
| HDMI/SDI/optical card | The documented card groups HDMI and SDI as copies; its OPT ports also copy video groups. |
|---|---|
| Custom timing | On that card, custom HDMI timing can disable the grouped SDI output. |
| Supervision | Two dedicated multiview connectors support independent or copy modes. Check which mode is active. |
Proposed setup and test
- Record full model, version, modules and connections. Save useful settings before changing the system.
- Complete one row per destination: content → source → device function → physical port → transport → monitor. Confirm full format and power at every stage.
- Test a known source and monitor directly first. Add the device and transport in stages, checking the detected format at each receiver.
- Test fine text, motion and audio when included. Rehearse the required content or source change and recovery off program.
- Save final settings and verify real content again. Define who changes each feed and which failure a backup path must cover.
Diagnosis and operation
If SDI is black while HDMI works, compare timing with the SDI standard and exact card. If both monitors show the same image, check copy grouping and multiview mode before changing the source.
Follow manufacturer ventilation and mounting requirements. Use the model’s procedure before servicing modules or power; opening, updating or resetting equipment is not a first diagnostic step.
Frequently asked questions
Can every HDMI, SDI and OPT port count as a different confidence feed?
No. Draw the installed card’s groups and mark their copies. Independent notes need a separate source and destination with available resources.
Why is HDMI working while the group’s SDI is blank?
Compare the active timing with the card’s supported SDI formats. The documentation warns that custom HDMI timing can disable SDI output; test a supported common format before investigating transport.
Which monitor should be reserved for the operator?
Separate the operator’s supervision needs from the speaker’s image. Check the MVR layout and output mode; establish whether different views or a copy are required before assigning both monitors.
