Model, output and license
The SRG-A40/A12 manual documents single- and multi-person tracking. UHD is HDMI-only, not SDI. Tracking Range bounds tracking. The NDI guide requires a key to enable NDI HX: verify the actual unit rather than assuming an included license.
Confirm SRG-A40, regional suffix, firmware, controller and offered accessories. It is not an FR7, and shared A12 features do not define the A40 lens. Specify the exact format received by production and draw video, control and power separately.
Proposed use: a speaker moving between lectern and presentation
Before enabling tracking, define the route, desired shot and who should stay out of frame. Compare a lectern preset with tracking during movement and a wide coverage shot. With several people, agree who takes priority and when the director changes shots.
Test under the planned lighting, background and audience conditions. Have someone cross in front, have the speaker sit, then leave and re-enter the agreed area. Record program and note subject selection, reframing and the shot covering a loss. These are proposed tests for choosing scope, not completed results.
Prepare and troubleshoot in stages
First confirm a stable picture at the receiver, then manual control, presets and finally auto framing. If networking works but movement does not, record access, address, controller and the failed action before changing configuration. If tracking alone fails, retain a clip and note lighting and subject selection.
Assign someone to stop automation and recover a usable shot. Compare manually controlled PTZ or an operated camera when entrances, crossings or details cannot be anticipated. Avoid firmware changes during the show; save configuration and repeat affected checks for any planned change.

Does auto framing allow unattended switching?
Assign someone to watch program and recover a shot when framing becomes unusable. Rehearse the actual crossings and show changes before combining duties in one person.
What should we provide if tracking changes subjects?
Keep a clip, version, position, lighting and subject settings. Compare a controlled repeat and define coverage; avoid changing several functions together.
