Studio Technologies Model 370A: Dante intercom
Prepare beltpack power and technical conversation paths without routing them to the audience.
Ask about rental, purchase or integration
Tell us the use, date and venue, even with an approximate brief. We can assess equipment, integration, preparation and technical support. Configuration, availability and terms are confirmed in the proposal.
Case 33: role and required system
Model 370A is a two-channel Dante intercom beltpack with a five-pin female XLR headset connector, not an assistive-listening receiver or PA mixer. Studio Technologies separates guides by serial/firmware: Issue 4 covers serial 04501 onward and firmware 2.1 onward. Identify the unit before applying options.
It needs IEEE 802.3af PoE and supported Dante networking; unpowered Ethernet is not a complete setup. Two packs can form a suitably routed point-to-point link. A multi-user partyline needs an intercom engine/matrix and mixes; a switch does not automatically create conversation. List supported headset/mic type, switch/power, destinations and configuration owner.
Case 34: no useful return audio
- Map both directions: pack mic/Talk → Dante transmit → intercom destination; return source → pack Dante receive → headset listen. Hearing local sidetone does not prove another operator’s return.
- Verify subscriptions/clock in Dante Controller and unit settings in version-appropriate STcontroller. Separate route, Talk state, listen level and headset type/connector. Discovery does not prove both audio directions.
- At protected volume test identified two-way speech and each channel separately. If the destination hears the pack but the pack cannot hear replies, trace return input/level before replacing the mic.
- Keep intercom out of public room, stream and recording mixes. Program listen or stage announcements require explicit routes; Dante alone does not provide separation. Save final map/settings.
Choose communication around the job
Compare Model 370A on existing network/matrix, dedicated wired intercom or wireless for moving users. Date, venue, positions and conversations allow rental, purchase, integration and operating scope. Specify power, interfaces, routes, headsets and checks; a beltpack is not the entire system.
More setup questions
Do a beltpack and switch create a partyline?
Not alone. Provide power, paths and an intercom mix/matrix suited to the users.
Does hearing myself prove return audio?
It may be local sidetone. Ask another operator to speak and trace their signal to pack Dante input and listening path.
