Westinghouse iGen5000DFc: verify variant and fuel
Fuel choice changes the iGen5000DFc’s published output. Ask for the version to be identified in the offer, since an EFI variant is also available.
U.S. non-EFI reference
The non-EFI listing gives 3900 rated/5000 peak watts on gasoline and 3500 rated/4500 peak watts on propane. It lists 120 V TT-30R and 5-20R outlets.
- Use tank, runtime and noise figures for the offered version, and check them against its manual.
- Compare venue power or a battery if suitable outdoor placement or fuel logistics are unavailable.
Identify the manual edition
The official manual reviewed is titled iGen5000DFc and carries code PF126214, revision 02, on its back page. Before using it for power planning, match the nameplate and panel with the provider, and keep the cover and revision of the manual for the offered unit.
What to send for a power review
- Full model name, nameplate and panel photos, planned fuel, and manual cover with its revision.
- Simultaneous loads, schedule and venue fuel-storage conditions.
Planned location and operation
Run a fuel-powered generator outdoors, away from openings, with exhaust directed away from buildings and people. An enclosed tent, garage or equipment room is unsuitable, even with ventilation. An automatic carbon monoxide (CO) shutoff does not permit indoor use.
In the United States, CPSC recommends at least 20 ft (about 6.1 m) from buildings. Also check the manual, air intakes, audience areas and venue rules before choosing a location. In Argentina, check the local equipment version and the jurisdiction’s and venue’s requirements.
Plan for a dry surface and rain protection as specified in the manual, without enclosing the exhaust. Shut down and let the generator cool before refueling. If the site cannot support these conditions or the required breaks, compare another power source.
Never feed building wiring through a wall outlet. If the project requires a transfer system, request an authorized system and review by qualified personnel. That review must cover protection, grounding, neutral configuration and distribution; do not use improvised adapters.
Frequently asked questions
Are 5000 W available on either fuel?
No. That is the listed gasoline peak; propane has different ratings.
Are DFc and DFc EFI equivalent?
They are different variants. Ask for nameplate and panel photos, plus the manual cover and revision. Compare output, runtime and noise using documentation for that variant and the planned fuel.
Does TT-30R mean 240 V?
No. This version’s listing identifies that outlet as 120 V. Outlet shape does not replace identification.
