Lighting and control
Battery lights at an event
Plan charging, runtime, control and recovery for the actual model and use.
Ask GLMedia about a lighting rental solution for your event, subject to availability and technical requirements.
Using this guide
A battery removes the operating power cable, but requires charging and runtime preparation before distributing fixtures. Wireless control and battery power are independent functions.
Prepare your rental inquiry
- Date, city, venue and setup, event and pickup schedule.
- Intended use, area dimensions and equipment already supplied by the venue or production.
- Visual goal and problem to solve; venue plan or identified photos if available.
- Decisions already agreed with venue, production and video to assess a suitable solution.
Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.
You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.
Features and connections
On AX5, the runtime setting adjusts output for the requested duration; it does not mean maximum brightness throughout that period. WELL Fit uses different charging and control: do not transfer accessories or procedures.
Prepare the system
- Identify model, variant, firmware, charger and each unit’s condition. Agree on color, brightness, effects and time from power-up through event end, including checks.
- Charge as instructed and confirm each unit’s status. WELL Fit charges upright with the case open and ventilated; check that every unit makes contact.
- Rehearse the actual program and record duration and usable brightness. Prepare replacements or supported power, accessible placement and a person responsible for checks.
Questions and troubleshooting
Will the advertised runtime cover the whole event?
A published maximum does not represent every scene or a used battery’s condition.
- Test the intended color, brightness and effects; include reception, rehearsal and waiting as well as the show.
- If using runtime control, check that resulting brightness covers the area. Establish reserve from testing rather than inventing a universal percentage.
Does one unit shut down before the others?
Separate incomplete charging, configuration and possible degradation.
- Compare indicators and settings with another unit of the same model; inspect charger and contacts with power disconnected.
- Remove damaged or abnormal units from use for service. Do not open packs or replace cells as a field fix.
Does it fail to respond despite having charge?
Available energy does not prove a working control link.
- First test a safe local scene. Then check selected input, pairing, DMX profile and address.
- On AX5, AUTO can retain the first active source; on WELL Fit check W-DMX reception. Do not confuse app, Bluetooth and wireless DMX.
Precautions
- Charging many units requires circuit and charger sizing with the electrical lead; do not add power strips without a load calculation.
- Do not use or charge damaged batteries; follow each model’s temperature, ventilation and storage instructions.
- Place fixtures securely outside traffic. Overhead use requires documented mounting and secondary retention.
Terms on this page
- DMX
- A data protocol controlling lighting functions; each model defines what its channels mean.
