AV show control
Manual GO, triggers, or timecode: how the show advances
When a speech runs long, the technical sequence needs to wait. When content has a fixed duration, some changes may be timed. Start with the decisions a person must be able to make during the show.
Three ways to advance
Manual: the operator receives the call, checks the previous state, and executes the identified cue. It suits actions whose intent depends on a human decision.
Trigger: a defined event permits an action if its planned conditions are met. Record the relevant edge or change, how it is rearmed, and who can inhibit it.
Timed: a cue is associated with a known position. Confirm what the receiver does on late start, pause, or seek. A fixed wait does not confirm that another system has finished.
A proposed mixed sequence
In a proposed sequence, the operator receives the opening GO, changes within fixed-duration content are timed, and the return to the speaker waits for a new call. Review the combination with the operators before testing it.
Keep the end of the content separate from the command to enter the next segment. Agree on an AV holding state and a clear resume signal if a segment is delayed. The person in control must know which cues remain enabled.
What to agree before testing
For each segment, record who authorizes GO, how it advances, what must be ready, the destination, how output is checked, and where operation can resume. Agree on what to do about an extra trigger or a missed call.
In grandMA3 2.5, Auto Start and Auto Stop are timecode show settings. Their existence does not establish another receiver’s behavior. Consult the timecode guide and record the project’s exact configuration.
What may change the choice
Which parts have a fixed duration? Who calls the show? What image, audio, or lighting state should hold during a delay? Those answers help plan an operator-led sequence and a way to continue manually if needed.

Plan the calls and holds
Send a program outline and tell us which segments may run long. GLMedia can help review the sequence, operator decisions, and playback, integration, or technical support needs.
