Audiovisual control · Practical guide

Two AV zones and streaming: agree on coordination points

The main screen, a second zone, and the online program may need different content at the same moment. Define what each audience should see and hear before combining controls.

  1. Program caller: cue call
  2. Room: its own content and status
  3. Zone B: its own content and status
  4. Online production: its own program and feedback

Confirm whether zone B follows the show or keeps an independent program. This changes file selection, audio, and calls even when screens share a format.

Agree who requests, confirms, and decides

For each step, record cue, rundown revision, caller, destination, and available confirmation. Ready for opening needs a department-specific meaning: loaded file, selected source, and checked output are different states.

Separate the rundown call from a playback command. Production can receive a block-start notification without automatically changing program. Any future connection needs a documented interface and version; a common button does not verify all destinations.

Plan each output’s return

Proposal: the speaker returns early. The room may return to its background while streaming keeps another source until its call. Document these decision points and what the caller receives.

If one zone does not confirm, another zone’s status cannot replace it. Prepare a manual alternative for that zone and agree whether the entire block waits or continues with different outputs. Any timing-alignment requirement needs its own measurement.

Rehearse the department interfaces

  1. Read the rundown with room, zone B, audio, and production operators; resolve content names before programming.
  2. Propose a normal opening, early return, and one unconfirmed zone. Record each output separately.
  3. For streaming, distinguish observation at production from the online audience’s reception; agree where delay is measured.
  4. If replay or recorded-file delivery is required, prepare that scope using the related vMix guide.

Playback formats, software production, and screen mapping belong in their specific guides. Agree on these calls between operators before configuring the integration, then check each output during rehearsal.
