ArtsPark Hollywood: permits and outdoor AV setup
At ArtsPark at Young Circle, the AV layout is part of an event in a public park. Before committing to screens, sound or structures, define the occupied area, the approval process and how activities will stop if a thunderstorm approaches.
The amphitheater is not the entire park
ArtsPark at Young Circle is at 1 Young Circle, Hollywood, FL 33020, within the City of Hollywood, Broward County. The city’s Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts department manages rental and event requests. Property title was not verified for this guide.
The city describes a 60 × 40 ft main stage and lawn seating for 2500 guests. These are amphitheater references: they do not replace an approved layout with control, barriers, aisles and accessibility, or certify loads or capacity for another configuration.
Gallery, Grove, Meadow, Plaza, patio and indoor rooms are listed as separate spaces. Identify the booked space and any additional areas needed for equipment, queuing, loading or storage in the request.

From the initial reservation to the final permit
The city instructs applicants to start an ACTIVE reservation for the correct event type and site. Special Events reviews the request, asks for documents and enables the application fee payment to move forward with departmental review. It then provides an agreement with conditions.
The final permit follows return of the signed agreement, receipt of required documents and fees, and scheduling of inspections and safety or security details where applicable. The published code requires written Fire Marshal approval and approval by the relevant departments. Scheduling an inspection does not mean that inspection has passed.
| Stage | What to submit or review | Expected result |
|---|---|---|
| Application and plan | Identify the event, dates, estimated attendance, booths, structures, signs and services. | A reviewable submission and a response about additional documentation. |
| Residential surroundings | Published §102.04 addresses events within 500 ft of residential property and written waivers from at least 80% of the specified owners or residents. | Ask Special Events to establish the boundary and confirm application to the project. Do not assume a park location is exempt. |
| Agreement and permit | Separate reservation, technical review, signed agreement, permit and inspections. | Keep the conditions and authorized plan version; do not announce approval merely because a fee was paid. |
The code consulted is labeled 2026 S-52; its publisher warns that it may not reflect the latest legislation. Confirm the version and its application with the city before filing. This guide does not replace that review.

What to confirm before flying, supporting or powering equipment
The city lists sound, lighting, loading docks and dressing rooms. The reviewed sources do not provide a rated rigging plot, an LED floor-load limit or an electrical distribution plan suitable for designing the setup. Request the space’s technical documents and specific equipment allocation.
| System | Project information | Required confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Rigging and structures | Screens, truss, motors and signs: positions, weights and forces for the assembly. | Approved points, capacities, engineering and qualified installers, operators and inspectors. Do not use roofs, trees or park fixtures as anchors without approval. |
| Supports and surfaces | Ground-supported LED, platforms, ballast and wheels: concentrated loads, footprints and route. | Load acceptance, turf and paving protection, anchoring method and access. Stage area does not establish load-bearing capacity. |
| Power and sound | Demand by system, distribution, cabling, any proposed generator and speaker positions. | Voltage, available capacity, protection, authorized connections and operators; soundcheck time and event sound limits. |
Section §102.04 requires details of utility needs and installed wiring. A rental description that lists sound does not confirm inventory, included operation or an exclusive vendor. Settle those terms before booking supplements.

Loading, sound and an itemized scope
The venue page lists loading docks but not their dimensions or truck route. Agree on vehicle, gate, turns, surface protection and load-in and load-out windows. Public park hours are not a production access window.
The city rental index prohibits DJs, alcohol and certain attractions in parks, while the amphitheater is offered for concerts and events. Do not infer an automatic exception: the organizer should declare each activity and request the permit’s specific conditions. Dog-park rules are not transferred to the stage here either.
| Item | Published reference | What to agree |
|---|---|---|
| Rental and time | The amphitheater page states a 2-hour minimum. | Confirm billable setup, rehearsal, event, strike and cleaning time. |
| Application and lead time | The venue page shows bands of 90 or more days, 45–89 days and 30–44 days. The permitting page does not repeat every band and contains an inconsistently formatted amount. | Request current fees and acceptance criteria. Fee bands do not guarantee acceptance of a late event. |
| Additional services | Deposit, crew, overtime, police, vendors and a possible ticket surcharge appear as separate items. | Request an itemized quote and refund terms; do not calculate the total from hourly rent alone. |

Effects and thunderstorms need separate reviews
Hollywood Fire Prevention lists fireworks, certain flame uses and other activities among those requiring a prior permit. No blanket ArtsPark authorization was verified for lasers, haze, smoke or cold sparks. Submit the effect and its documentation for classification and review; being outdoors does not establish permission.
For organized outdoor activities, the National Weather Service recommends a lightning plan covering a weather monitor, stopping decisions, shelter and resumption. Identify safe shelters and travel time before admitting the public. A tent, open shed or rain shelter is not safe lightning shelter.
The NWS recommends waiting at least 30 minutes after the last thunder before resuming outdoor activity. This does not replace checks of wind, water, structures and equipment or the agreed restart approvals. No wind-speed limit is set here: it must follow the engineered setup and accepted plan.
As technical coordination, the organizer and venue should agree on who stops the activity, how the public is notified and which tasks crews can perform without exposure. A stage roof does not establish adequate protection to continue a show through a thunderstorm.

A proposal that can be reviewed and delivered
Send a versioned layout identifying areas, equipment, loads and supports, power demand, sound and hours, effects, trucks, schedule and weather plan. Include vendor details and request the specific insurance, credential, training and staffing requirements; no undocumented insurance amount or union requirement is assumed.
Separate municipal authorization, venue conditions, organizer decisions and work contracted to GLMedia and other vendors. If the layout, a load, an effect or a time changes, submit the revision and obtain confirmation before carrying it out. This is a change-control recommendation; the city must specify the administrative procedure.
GLMedia can provide equipment-only rental or prepare, install, operate and remove systems within the agreed scope and venue conditions. This guide does not establish prior GLMedia work at ArtsPark or approved-vendor status.
Preparation worksheet: not a reservation, permit, structural calculation or setup approval.

Frequently asked questions
Does an ACTIVE reservation confirm that I can hold the event?
No. It starts a review involving documents, conditions and fees. The city describes later steps for issuing the final permit and scheduling applicable inspections or services.
Can I add LED or truss because the stage already has sound and lighting?
Not automatically. Submit weights, positions, supports or suspension and power for review. The amphitheater description does not certify loads or authorize additions.
Does amphitheater rental allow any DJ or effect?
Do not assume it does. General park restrictions and event-specific conditions apply. Request explicit confirmation of activities and applicable safety reviews.
Can we resume as soon as the rain stops?
No. The plan must address lightning, wind, setup condition and decision makers. The NWS last-thunder recommendation does not replace other checks or the restart decision.
