Caesars Superdome: floor, rigging, power and production
Caesars Superdome publishes a substantial Facilities Guide for organizers. It was prepared under ASM Global and retains pre-renovation details; the current site presents renovated spaces and Legends Global operations. Use this guide to prepare questions and drawings, not to assume a figure or service is current for an event.
1. Scope and configuration
The official guide covers the stadium and also names Smoothie King Center and Champions Square for shared services. Use only items labeled Caesars Superdome. The current Host An Event page presents field and renovated-space options; confirm the contracted area, seating, FOH and circulation.
2. Floor and protection
The Facilities Guide gives a 200 psf live load for the field slab on grade and 100 psf for other slabs on grade. These are neither point-load ratings nor permission for vehicles. Prepare footprints, wheel loads, spreader plates, turf/floor protection and venue review.
3. Roof and rigging
The PDF states 100,000 lb evenly distributed across the roof. It provides no point matrix that would allow that total in one location. Request current CAD, points, loads, trim heights, access method and engineering approval before specifying motors or LED.
4. Power and network
The facility guide lists 4,400 A total at 208 V of show power, in addition to floor pockets. It reserves wiring and electrical installation to the house electrician and internet services to the in-house team. This is a PDF figure, not a power reservation: submit a load schedule and obtain current allocation.
| Topic | Guide figure | Outstanding |
|---|---|---|
| Field | 200 psf | Point load and protection |
| Other slabs | 100 psf | Route and structure |
| Roof | 100,000 lb distributed | Points and CAD |
| Show power | 4,400 A / 208 V | Circuits and connection |
5. Loading and doors
The PDF places load-in at lower-level docks and describes South Gate doors, but its “four (6)” bays wording is inconsistent and the caterer reference changed. Request the route, door, clear height, time slots, parking and protection before booking trucks.
6. Video and installed services
The Facilities Guide describes displays, production and network, but equipment and operators may have changed after renovations. Do not copy codecs, resolutions or inventory from the PDF into a rider. Request current specifications for each display, content authorization, production network and signal tests.
7. Drawings and authority
The Facilities Guide refers stage, tent and pyrotechnic permits to the City of New Orleans and coordinator review; it also calls for floor and egress plans for the setup. Because it contains historical code and fee references, verify the current process with the authority and venue. A past show permit grants no approval here.
8. Review package
Gather the contract, area, audience and exit plan, floor load and protection, rigging points, power, network/video, docks, schedule and effects. Keep historical guide statements separate from current answers by the venue, engineer, organizer and authority.
| Party | Review | Evidence needed |
|---|---|---|
| Venue | Space and services | Contract/drawings |
| Engineering | Floor and roof | Calculation and CAD |
| House electrician | Connection | Approved distribution |
| Authority | Permits | Event decision |
Frequently asked questions
Can I treat the published 100,000 lb as my show load?
No. The Facilities Guide describes an evenly distributed roof total, not a per-point rating or approved rigging plot. Obtain current engineering and a plot for the specific setup.
How many docks may I book?
The PDF contradicts itself: it says “four (6)” bays and uses former catering names. Ask the coordinator for the current dock plan and event allocation; do not infer availability from the text.
Official documentation
Reviewed October 18, 2026. Main official source: Caesars Superdome Facilities Guide, 50 pages, published around 2022 on the venue domain; current Host An Event and A-Z pages. The PDF mixes pre-renovation and former-operator references and even contradicts itself on dock count. It does not establish current CAD, point loads, AV inventory, contract or event permits.
