Chauvet Professional Ovation E-2 FC
Prepare the compact E-2 FC ellipsoidal with integrated zoom, Focus Mode exit and the correct DMX personality.
Ask GLMedia about renting Chauvet Professional Ovation E-2 FC for your event. Availability and configuration are subject to confirmation.

- Model
- Ovation E-2 FC; OVATIONE2FC
- Optics

- Control
- 5-pin XLR DMX, RDM; USB updates
A compact LED ellipsoidal for venues, theater and camera use, with framing blades and RGBAL mixing. Integrated optics change coverage without swapping tubes. The physical array includes cyan LEDs, but documented direct mixing provides red, green, blue, amber and lime; do not add a cyan channel to the personality.
Prepare your rental inquiry
- Date, city, venue and setup, event and pickup schedule.
- Intended use, area dimensions and equipment already supplied by the venue or production.
- Throw distance, target area and required framing or projection.
- Required optics, gobo holders, filters and mounting; confirm each unit’s inclusions.
Specify equipment only or whether setup, programming, operation and strike are also needed. Scope is confirmed in the proposal.
You do not need a final equipment list: tell us the result you want and the part you need help with. Availability and scope are confirmed in the proposal.
Features and connections
Color temperatures and virtual colors are internal mixes. Check white and color on actual materials, especially alongside other sources.
It accepts an M-size gobo holder and specific accessories such as the Ovation E-2 iris. Confirm compatibility and retention; do not assume another Ovation accessory will fit.
IP20 for dry indoor use. A protected power connector does not make the complete fixture rain-ready. Use a protected circuit suited to actual power requirements.
Prepare the system
- Mount securely, with secondary retention when suspended. Secure the accessory slot and clear the beam path before applying power.
- For zoom and focus, loosen the lower knobs, slide to obtain the required coverage and edge, and retighten by hand. These are not DMX movement channels.
- Select the exact mode in DMX Channel and its start in DMX Address. Match profile, address, firmware and local settings to the console.
Questions and troubleshooting
Stuck at full output after focusing?
Focus Mode facilitates focusing without a console operator.
- Hold FOCUS MODE for 3 seconds to activate it and raise intensity to 100%. Ensure nobody looks into the front before using it.
- Press MENU to exit, then check response to the console or intended local setting. Do not lower palettes to compensate for an active focus mode.
- If response is still wrong, check patch and Master/Slave. Do not connect a console to a chain operating as Master/Slave.
Missing a dimmer, or do color channels not match?
A shared product family does not mean an identical personality.
- 5Ch provides direct RGBAL without a master dimmer. 7Ch adds dimmer and strobe. Match the chart’s order, rather than a Rêve E-3 profile.
- 13Ch1 and 13Ch2 share a footprint but differ in functions: the latter uses fine dimmer and color channels; the former adds programs and control.
- HSV uses 3 channels. If a library disagrees, verify the revision: a conflicting label appears in that mode’s chart, so do not repair a personality by intuition.
Too much fan noise, or less light than expected?
Fan mode changes noise, output and temperature.
- Compare Fan Mode: On keeps the fan at maximum; Auto follows temperature; Silent maintains a quiet speed, while Off stops it.
- Off and Silent reduce output and make the housing hotter. Assess useful output against actual ambient noise; do not block airflow for quiet operation.
- Also record Red Shift, Color Calibration and Dimmer Mode when fades differ. For camera use, test PWM with actual frame rate and shutter settings before accepting the setup.
Quick reference
| Mode | Channels | Last possible start |
|---|---|---|
| 5Ch | 5 | 508 |
| 7Ch | 7 | 506 |
| 13Ch1 / 13Ch2 | 13 | 500 |
| 17Ch | 17 | 496 |
| HSV | 3 | 510 |
Precautions
- Dry IP20 use, maximum ambient 45 °C; keep 50 cm from adjacent surfaces and combustible materials. Allow acclimation before applying power after condensation.
- Do not use the soft-focus filter with gobos or large shutter cuts: reflected heat can warp it. Handle powered off and cool without fingerprints; close and secure the slot when unused.
- The official repository requires V1.3.0.2 before V1.3.1 for fixtures on V1.230801 or earlier. Check the complete procedure and actual fixture; do not update during a show or interrupt power.
Terms on this page
- DMX
- A data protocol controlling lighting functions; each model defines what its channels mean.
- RDM
- Management communication for querying or configuring compatible equipment over a compatible path.
- PWM
- Modulation of LED output; interaction with a camera may produce recorded bands or variations.
- Patch
- Assignment of fixture, profile, address and universe in the control system.
