Event power planning
LED wall startup: information for power planning
A wall can draw a short input pulse when power is applied even if its initial content is black. Typical show consumption does not describe that moment.
Request exact assembly information
- Cabinet model and variant, installed power supplies and quantity per circuit; documentation for power inputs and pass-through links.
- Declared inrush conditions: voltage, pulse duration and, if specified, cold start versus restart. Do not transfer figures from another supply.
- Operating current, maximum input, actual protection and switching-device documentation. The provider reviews their compatibility.
Agree on startup planning before load-in
Compare simultaneous startup with a grouped-start solution designed for the assembly. Ask the provider and manufacturer to define the groups, timing, switching hardware and recovery after an outage.
Power-supply and lighting documentation illustrates why pulse duration and protection curves matter. Its equipment-specific values do not establish how many wall panels fit on your circuit.
If a trip has already occurred
Record whether it happened at energization, a content change or after operation, which protection operated and which equipment was active. Not every startup trip is inrush. Suspend use of the affected circuit pending review; do not increase protection ratings or repeatedly reset it to get the wall started.
Planning questions
Does lower brightness eliminate inrush?
That is not established. Brightness describes operation; the input pulse depends on the electronics and energization conditions.
Can I multiply one supply’s peak by all cabinets?
It may be preliminary information, but it does not resolve pulse duration, simultaneity or protective-device response. Have the assembly and conditions reviewed.
Will any power sequencer work?
Do not assume so. Verify voltage, loads, switching capability, control and the exact device’s behavior after an outage.

Before finalizing the supply, confirm venue and local authority requirements in the United States, or utility and local requirements for an event in Argentina. Confirm the actual site’s electrical configuration regardless of this guide’s language.
