Event power planning
Phase balancing: prepare an event load schedule
A load schedule shows where demand concentrates before a proposal is finalized. Final allocation must be reviewed against the actual diagram, protection and supply limits.
Columns that make the review useful
- Load and circuit ID, voltage, input type, quantity, and current or VA with source and operating condition.
- Proposed phase or line pair, simultaneous scenario and schedule. Distinguish line-to-neutral, line-to-line single-phase and three-phase loads.
- Venue allocation and professional review; clearly mark preliminary assignments and revision changes.
How to spot uneven allocation
The 30 A arithmetic total is neither current available at a single outlet nor neutral current. This example only flags uneven allocation for planning review. It does not establish an acceptable imbalance percentage.
Compare alternative circuit assignments in the schedule, reviewing rehearsal, show and startup separately. The electrical provider must assess and carry out physical changes under the applicable safe working conditions.
| Documented allocation | Quantity | Phase total |
|---|---|---|
| A | 3 | 15 A |
| B | 2 | 10 A |
| C | 1 | 5 A |
What balancing does not resolve
Equal equipment counts do not mean equal current. With electronic loads, harmonics can affect the neutral even when phase totals look similar. Request a specific review; this schedule does not justify a smaller neutral or replace circuit verification.
Planning questions
Can I divide total watts by three?
Dividing the total by three assumes a balanced allocation; it does not show the actual loads. Keep the circuit loads and supply type. A line-to-line load must be accounted for on both phases it uses.
Can I finalize the schedule using rehearsal consumption?
Review show and startup conditions too. Content or equipment changes can alter simultaneous demand.
Can I move connections to test a better balance?
Use the schedule to propose documented changes. The electrical provider defines and performs authorized changes; do not experiment with energized connections.

Before finalizing the supply, confirm venue and local authority requirements in the United States, or utility and local requirements for an event in Argentina. Confirm the actual site’s electrical configuration regardless of this guide’s language.
