PIXELHUE EP4T/R Pro: optical transport for HDMI confidence
Use the EP4T/R Pro pair to carry an existing feed. Verify full format, modules and endpoints before specifying the optical link.
Confidence HDMI source → EP4T/R Pro (TX) → compatible optical link → EP4T/R Pro (RX) → HDMI to a monitor supporting the format
Show scenario
If notes work on a direct HDMI monitor beside the processor but the stage screen is distant, evaluate optical transport. Preserve that direct test and check the pair on the actual route before finalizing the design.
Verified connections and functions
| Signal treatment | The official description specifies lossless compression. Do not describe it as uncompressed transport. |
|---|---|
| Format | The table distinguishes 8-bit 4:4:4 at 4096×2160p60 from 10-bit 4:4:4 at 4096×2160p30. |
| Services | EDID passthrough, embedded audio and KVM functions are documented; verify each required service in the actual setup. |
Proposed setup and test
- Record full model, version, modules and connections. Save useful settings before changing the system.
- Complete one row per destination: content → source → device function → physical port → transport → monitor. Confirm full format and power at every stage.
- Test a known source and monitor directly first. Add the device and transport in stages, checking the detected format at each receiver.
- Test fine text, motion and audio when included. Rehearse the required content or source change and recovery off program.
- Save final settings and verify real content again. Define who changes each feed and which failure a backup path must cover.
Diagnosis and operation
If changing color depth makes it work, compare the complete format with the table before blaming fiber. Identify the pair’s modules, fiber and power; do not use a generic distance. Do not look into ports or fibers or open the equipment.
Follow manufacturer ventilation and mounting requirements. Use the model’s procedure before servicing modules or power; opening, updating or resetting equipment is not a first diagnostic step.
Frequently asked questions
Does 4K60 support imply 10-bit 4:4:4 at 60 Hz?
No. The table separates bit-depth and chroma combinations. Choose a row matching source and destination; do not combine maximums from different rows.
Does video transport also confirm KVM control?
The specification lists KVM, but the service needs testing with the intended host, connections and setup. Rehearse keyboard and mouse separately from picture and audio; receiving video does not prove working remote control.
What should I compare if direct video works but the optical pair does not?
Keep the direct test’s format and add TX, link and RX. Check module references, power and the full resolution, frame-rate and color combination. Record the result of each parameter change to identify the limiting stage.
