Fontainebleau Miami Beach: rigging and AV in Coral, Pearl and Tides
Coastal Convention Center is part of Fontainebleau Miami Beach’s event complex in City of Miami Beach, Miami-Dade. The hotel address is 4441 Collins Avenue; the 2026 guide identifies Coastal’s freight access as 4360 Collins Avenue, on the Indian Creek side. This is not the Las Vegas Fontainebleau venue.
Use the exact Coral, Pearl or Tides configuration
The Meetings & Events Planning Guide 2026 places Coral on Second Floor, Pearl on Fourth Floor and Tides on Fifth Floor. The table below retains its full-space references; divided rooms have their own capacities. Request the event plan with LED, stage, control and circulation before fixing attendance.
The hotel-linked Coastal PDFs do not agree on every capacity: one lists Pearl Theater at 1,380 while the 2026 guide lists 1,200. The other linked plan agrees with those 2026 values. Identify document, layout and revision; do not combine one version’s capacity with another setup.
Pearl 1/2 is listed at 7,520 ft² and Pearl 1/2/Pearl Corridor at 8,805 ft². These are different configurations: including the corridor requires an accepted plan and routes. Neither ceiling height nor a partition line identifies rigging points or available trim height.
| Full space | Published area | Published ceiling | Theater | Banquet | Reception |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coral Ballroom | 9,500 ft² | 17 ft 1 in | 800 | 700 | 800 |
| Pearl Ballroom | 16,500 ft² | 18 ft | 1,200 | 1,000 | 1,100 |
| Tides Rooftop Terrace | 7,001 ft² | Outdoor | No value in that column | 480 | 500 |
Separate the hotel entrance from production access
The 2026 Resort Map marks Freight Entrance – Off Indian Creek Side and a 13 ft 2 in clearance beside Coastal. Use this as a vehicle-planning reference; it does not establish clearance along every segment, a reserved slot or accepted truck access. Confirm arrival address, waiting, maneuvering, unloading and departure before dispatch.
Plans distinguish Freight Elevators, Elevators and Back of House. They do not publish elevator load rating, cabin or door dimensions, or route turns here. Submit complete case weight and dimensions including wheels, and request an authorized elevator and route to the contracted division. If it cannot fit, change packaging or equipment before shipping; do not count on the pedestrian bridge as a freight route.
Submit rigging by location with all weights
Pinnacle Live’s Fontainebleau workflow requires a separate request and CAD for each location. Identify room and division, dates and load-in/out times. Prepare submissions at least 21 days before load-in; shorter lead times may incur additional charges. This is the provider’s deadline, not an approval guarantee or replacement for authority deadlines.
First request the specific rigging plot with point locations and ratings. The request includes truss and motor options but establishes neither equipment availability nor Coral, Pearl or Tides point capacity. Standards provide for diagram review followed by an estimate for signature; CAD assistance may cost extra.
| Submission part | What to prepare | Distinction to retain |
|---|---|---|
| Files | .dwg or .vwx in .zip; maximum 100 MB. | The form accepts a file, not its technical content. |
| Point loads | Matrix in lb including motor, chain and all suspended load. | Total setup weight and each point reaction. |
| Geometry | Reference points, trim heights and all flown elements. | Room, division and final position; not only a screen rectangle. |
| Décor and signs | Construction details, illustration and attachment method. | Manufacturer specifications when required; do not omit lightweight signs. |
Assign connections and operation before closing the setup
Pinnacle Live identifies itself as the hotel’s exclusive in-house event technology provider. That alone does not establish all outside-equipment conditions: its standards state that rigging-equipment exclusivity varies by venue. Confirm supplies, supervision, personnel, costs and limits for this room in writing.
Standards reserve venue-structure rigging connections and chain-hoist/control operation to Pinnacle. They prohibit airwall rigging and adding loads to truss or hoists at trim without its representative’s approval and presence. Include cables and signs in the review; if the setup changes, retain the accepted state and submit a revision before adding weight.
Rigging crews have a minimum of two riggers; the provider determines final staffing. Coordinate an accepted lift, route and operators. For a supported screen, review reactions, stability, ballast and floor protection: avoiding suspension does not remove setup review.
Check every zone with partitions in final position
The plan divides Coral into 1, 2 and 3, and Pearl into 1, 2, 3 and 4 with Pearl Corridor. That geometry does not establish matching audio, video, control or network separation. Prepare a source, input, destination and zone matrix; request assigned equipment, formats, operator and patch. Without model and manual, specific menus or commands cannot be prescribed.
With the operator and before audience entry, check one zone at a time. Save the previous patch, change one variable and observe every affected room. If another zone responds or a destination is lost, restore the previous route before continuing; save the configuration only after checking the whole system.
| Check to perform | What to observe | What it separates and how to continue |
|---|---|---|
| Named image pattern by zone | The assigned screen displays a complete, readable pattern. | Another destination responding points toward routing; cropping at the correct destination toward format or framing. Correct with the operator and repeat. |
| Voice by zone with partitions closed | Intended program without unwanted electronic feed to the adjacent room. | Separate patch from acoustic transmission through the partition; check assignment before raising level. |
| Contracted recording or streaming return | Correct picture and audio at the receiver as well as in the room. | The local screen does not verify the link. Check send and return without altering the accepted program; restore the previous patch if it fails. |
Treat Tides as outdoors and reserve a real alternative
Tides is an outdoor Fifth Floor terrace; its 7,001 ft² does not describe the entire roof as usable event area. Do not move equipment to Pearl or another roof zone without an accepted plan. Request floor and ballast limits, wind conditions, surface protection, noise, hours and an event suspension or relocation procedure.
Agree a specific indoor alternative with the hotel, including availability, capacity and changeover time. Prepare content and patch for that destination and check it before the event if contracted. A terrace and ballroom do not automatically share image size, audio or power.
For each zone request circuits, voltage, protection, connectors, assigned power and who connects, checks and removes distribution. Hotel AV-distribution and connectivity descriptions establish no bitrate, network isolation, inter-floor routing or free LED power. Check the contracted service at the receiver and retain a local backup source when the program allows.
Separate provider, venue and authority review
City of Miami Beach Fire Prevention publishes a Special Events process and forms for haze, flame effects and pyrotechnics. Confirm reviews, permits, inspections and services for the specific setup. Pinnacle’s CAD acceptance does not authorize effects. Laser procedures require specific confirmation; do not modify detection or safety systems.
Submit the plan with attendance, circulation, structure, power, effects and hours to the hotel and responsible departments. Separate authority requirements, venue conditions, organizer program, contract/exclusive service and technical checks. Request current insurance, staffing, rates, surcharges and modification terms before closing scope; a capacity table is neither booking nor permit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use 1,380 Pearl seats because a PDF lists it?
The 2026 guide lists Theater at 1,200 and another linked PDF at 1,380. Identify document and configuration with the hotel and request capacity for the plan including screen, stage, control and routes. Do not select the larger figure or mix versions.
Should the truck arrive at 4441 Collins Avenue?
That is the hotel address. The 2026 map identifies Coastal freight access at 4360 Collins Avenue, on Indian Creek, with a 13 ft 2 in reference. Confirm arrival, vehicle, maneuvering and complete route: that height does not certify other passages.
Is Pearl’s ceiling height the available LED trim?
No. The published 18 ft is ceiling height. Trim depends on accepted point, motors, chain, truss, equipment and obstructions. Request rigging plot, ratings and weight review before specifying screen height.
Is a rigging PDF sufficient?
The workflow requires .dwg or .vwx in .zip up to 100 MB, a separate request per location and a matrix in lb including motor and chain. Prepare submissions at least 21 days before load-in. Receipt is not approval.
Can I add a sign after the truss is flown?
Standards require Pinnacle approval and presence to add loads at trim. Submit weight, attachment and position in a revision before the change; do not use the airwall as an anchor either.
Does closing the partition also separate screens and sound?
The plan does not confirm that independence. Request the zone patch and check picture and voice with the partition in final position. If the adjacent room responds, distinguish an incorrect electronic feed from acoustic transmission before adjusting levels.
Can I move the show from Tides to Pearl if weather changes?
Only if the hotel accepts and has that alternative available, with plan, capacity, equipment, power and timing resolved. Prepare the intended destination’s patch and content; do not assume the terrace reservation includes a backup ballroom.
