Anaheim Convention Center: production rigging, drawings and effects
Anaheim Convention Center is at 800 W Katella Avenue, Anaheim, California. ACC North, halls, meeting rooms and ballrooms have different rigging scopes.
Where is Encore exclusive and what is submitted?
The 2026 Rigging Guidelines reserve rigging labor and hoists to Encore in Arena, Arena Lobby, Level Two, Level Three including Ballrooms A–E, and North 200. North 100 and halls A–E distinguish exclusive production from booth/signage rigging by General Service Contractors. Confirm written scope before hiring.
Rigging Advance requires a scaled plan of all flown equipment and a reflected ceiling plan using venue CAD/Vectorworks. Submit it 20 days before load-in, or 31 days before load-in to avoid penalty rates; forms received less than 20 days before load-in incur double-time labor rates under the document. Obtain design approval before installation, in addition to submitting the file and agreeing on fees. Do not add load after the crew leaves.
Can one load chart be used throughout?
No. The 2026 document lists ballrooms at 1,000 lb per point and North 100/200 at 1,600 lb per point or 2,000 lb on alternating points per beam. The 2021-01-28 Facility Guide contains different values and conditions. Obtain current engineering and check the CAD, load monitoring, adjacent points and working load limit (WLL) together before adopting a number.
Submit distributed loads, support reactions, wheel loads and lift route separately. White non-marking tires and Masonite/plastic carpet protection are required; they do not establish floor capacity. Confirm electrical phases, current, connector and connection responsibility in the event order: rigging does not automatically include power.
Do cold sparks need a permit?
Anaheim Fire & Rescue includes cold spark devices among pyrotechnic devices: a permit, fireworks company with licensing/documents and fire standby by both the fireworks company and Anaheim Fire & Rescue are required. Venue conditions may be more restrictive. Hiring rigging does not establish effect acceptance.
The authority requests applications and floorplans before booth sales and at least 14 days before the event. Late submissions may be denied without review. If the authority agrees to review them, a mandatory after-hours expedited review fee applies, with a minimum charge equivalent to two hours. Identify laser/haze equipment and effects and confirm applicable permits. Until approval is obtained, leave these effects out of the program.
Frequently asked questions
Does a lightweight sign avoid rigging review?
No. Low weight does not eliminate location and attachment approval. The 2026 document says signs above 20 lb may require a motor and truss; system and space must be approved before lifting.
