Aventura Arts & Cultural Center: line sets, projection and Fire Watch
Aventura Arts & Cultural Center (AACC) is at 3385 NE 188th Street, City of Aventura, Miami-Dade. Published management is Broward Center for the Performing Arts (PACA); this does not transfer another venue’s jurisdiction or conditions to this theater. This guide uses the dossier revised September 15, 2026.
Check the bottleneck all the way to the stage
The dock is at the southeast corner, has one bay and requires advance notice for a tractor trailer. Truck and bus parking is very limited. Agree the sequence and waiting area before dispatching vehicles; audience parking does not resolve unloading.
The theater advertises 330 seats and a 40 ft × 30 ft stage. The dossier specifies a 40 ft wide × 20 ft high proscenium and depth of 30 ft from plaster line or 26 ft from the cyclorama. Use these references with the Stage and Apron plan; do not confuse proscenium opening with total stage width or clear space.
| Segment | Published dimension | Advance check |
|---|---|---|
| Dock | Height 36 in; one bay. | Accepted vehicle height, transfer method and personnel. |
| Receiving door | 8 ft wide × 8 ft high. | Complete case, hardware and handling. |
| Receiving to stage | 6 ft wide × 8 ft high. | Narrower published passage; confirm actual turns and clearances before shipping. |
Distinguish system figures from an available line set
Counterweight line sets are operated manually from stage left, SL. The dossier lists 38 line sets on 8 in centers, a 48 ft grid, 36 ft travel and 53 ft battens. Submit full weight, distribution, points and method for venue review; these figures do not assign an allowable load to the setup.
The Line Set Schedule marks LS 4 as 1st Electric/Projector and LS 6 as Movie Screen, both permanently hung. LS 5 has restricted use because of the first electric. Review occupancy, interference and accepted positions with Production: an undescribed row does not establish a free line set. Do not load, rebalance or move the system without authorized personnel and procedure.
| Rigging Specifications entry | Dossier value | Interpretation limit |
|---|---|---|
| Typical weight per arbor | 1,300 lb | Does not establish available payload for LED or truss. |
| Max weight arbor (electrics) | 2,000 lb | Electric line reference; not applicable to every batten or point. |
| Total weight available | 54,800 lb | Not available capacity for a single setup or structural point. |
Assign power and allow time to restore lighting
Power Distribution lists a 200 A three-phase supply at DSR, downstage right. Confirm voltage, connector, protection, allocated power and who connects, checks and removes it. Circuit Locations separates dimmed circuits, non-dim circuits and DMX channels; an outlet’s position does not prove suitable power for LED or electronics.
The lighting plot is focused and colored to the repertory plan. Any refocusing during load-in must be restored during load-out, with restoration cost included in settlement. Record accepted positions and state with the operator before changing them and allocate restoration staff and time. ION xe is listed with 1024 outputs; confirm version and patch before specifying controls.
Close model, lens and destination before preparing files
The revision lists Barco G100-W16 TAA WW and RLS-W12, Roland V-1SDI and lenses of 0.65–0.75:1, 0.84–1.03:1 and 1.85–2.4:1. The list does not pair every lens with every projector. Confirm the actual combination, distance, surface, signal format and operator before calculating framing or preparing connections.
Surfaces include a 10 ft 6 in × 14 ft screen, a 14 ft 6 in × 25 ft screen hung DS and a 22 ft × 50 ft cyclorama US. They are priced separately from the projector. For audio, the dossier limits mixing to one position at the center cross aisle and lists Yamaha DM7 as an alternative monitor console; agree patch and position without transferring files or settings between models.
| Check to perform | What to observe | How to proceed |
|---|---|---|
| Pattern and text on the selected surface | Destination, cropping, focus and readability. | Separate incorrect routing from format or framing; correct with the operator and restore the previous file if not verified. |
| Voice to PA and monitors separately | Signal at assigned destinations without unintended returns. | Review patch before raising levels and preserve the previous state. |
| Lighting cue from the accepted patch | Intended fixture and recorded repertory state. | Stop if another destination responds; review assignment and repeat before saving changes. |
Include water-based haze and rehearsals in Fire Watch
The September 2026 policy includes water-based haze, smoke, open flame and pyrotechnics among effects subject to Fire Watch. AACC determines its need and arranges it through its exclusive authorized vendor. It must be present whenever effects are used, including rehearsals; do not test the hazer first and decide afterward.
The document lists USD 80/h, subject to change and payable by the licensee. Service must begin no later than 1 hour before the event and continue afterward until stage and auditorium are completely clear of smoke or haze. Include an earlier rehearsal in coordination; do not budget only for show duration.
Submit equipment, fluid, location and sequence to Production and close venue conditions and applicable authority permits. Fire Watch is not general effect authorization and does not resolve lasers. Do not interfere with detection or safety systems; retain a version without the effect if it is not accepted.
Separate room rental, production and restoration
Rental Rates version 7.18.2024, linked by the venue, describes same-day load-in and a single performance or event of up to 3.5 hours within base rent; stage personnel and equipment are quoted as required at prevailing rates. Confirm the contractual version and event schedule: do not assume that block includes a full technical workday.
The September 2026 technical dossier lists a 6% Production Services Fee on the total production invoice. Separate equipment, projection surfaces, personnel, Fire Watch, plot restoration, load-out and surcharges in the estimate. Request current rates for your date; dated documents do not replace a quote or contract.
Submit a revision that can be reviewed by scope
Mark points and battens, supports, reactions, floor protection, image surfaces, PA, power, control and circulation on the plan. For a floor-supported screen, review stability, ballast and floor loads; avoiding suspension does not establish acceptance. For elevation, confirm the actual machine, manual, operator and route before selecting the method.
Separate authority requirements —permits and inspections by intervention—, venue conditions —plan, loads, power and operation—, organizer requirements —program and audience—, contract —insurance, personnel and costs— and technical recommendations —patch, rehearsal and backup—. For changes, submit an identified revision and retain the accepted configuration until affected approvals are closed. Do not transfer theater capacity or rigging to outdoor patios.
City of Aventura identifies its Building Division for construction review, permits and inspections, and Fire Rescue as a Miami-Dade County service. Confirm the intervention’s requirements with the responsible departments; the venue Fire Watch vendor does not replace official review.
Frequently asked questions
Will a case that fits the 8 ft door reach the stage?
Not necessarily: the next published passage is 6 ft wide × 8 ft high. Compare the complete case against both passages and confirm turns, level changes and transfer method. Revise packing or shipping if the route is not accepted.
Can I hang 1,300 lb of LED on any batten?
No. The dossier labels that figure typical weight per arbor; it does not assign available LED payload. Submit weight, distribution and points on the Line Set Schedule and request a specific review. Permanent hangs and restrictions still apply.
Is the 200 A supply free for my LED system?
The reference describes a three-phase supply at DSR, not allocated spare power. Confirm voltage, protection, connectors, demand and authorized personnel. Do not use a dimmed circuit merely because it is near the equipment.
Can I leave lighting focused for my event?
The dossier requires restoration during load-out of any refocusing done during load-in, with its cost charged at settlement. Record the prior state with the operator and allow staff and time for restoration.
Are lenses and screens interchangeable between projectors?
The list does not confirm every combination. Request assigned model and lens, surface, distance and format. Check pattern and text before closing files; projector and surface are priced separately.
Is water-based haze exempt from Fire Watch?
No: the 2026 policy includes it and also covers rehearsals. AACC coordinates its exclusive authorized vendor. Confirm the full schedule, rate and acceptance before use; without acceptance, retain the version without effects.
Does base rent include all AV technicians and equipment?
Rental Rates version 7.18.2024 separates stage personnel and equipment rental as required. Request a current estimate covering operation, projection, Fire Watch, restoration, load-out and production charges. Do not close costs using room rental alone.
