Miami Beach Bandshell: audio, lighting, LED and rigging for concerts

Before adding equipment at Miami Beach Bandshell, separate the rental inclusions from optional services and setups requiring review. The installed system does not authorize extra loads on the canopy or trusses.

What does the rental cover, and which permits are separate?

Miami Beach Bandshell is at 7275 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida 33141, in Miami-Dade County. It is a city-owned cultural facility managed by The Rhythm Foundation. It is not in City of Miami or the municipality of Palmetto Bay.

The rental page lists 800 seated and 1300 standing; the 2026 technical specification and municipal pages mention 1350 standing. Do not choose the larger figure: confirm the concert plan and contracted occupancy, including FOH, barriers, aisles, exits and accessibility. Adjacent parking or park space is not automatically part of the rented area.

Rental includes house sound, lights and furniture; mandatory technical, front-of-house, cleaning and security staffing is budgeted separately. Identify who installs, connects, operates and removes each system and which tasks the technical director accepts. An equipment list does not establish exclusive labor arrangements or union requirements.

Separate venue technical acceptance, organizer rider, contractual terms and city permits. The venue website directs users to City of Miami Beach Special Events for the adjacent park or beach. If that permit applies, the city publishes a deadline of 90 days before first load-in for public-property events with 150 or more attendees requiring city services; confirm classification and date restrictions before committing the schedule.

Published curfew is 22:00, with a possible extension to 23:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. Confirm that extension; do not apply show curfew to load-in, soundcheck or load-out schedules.

Will the equipment fit, and can rigging be added to the stage?

The specification describes a 14 ft × 3 ft ramp rated at 1750 lb, usable at the dock or stage front. Before dispatch, submit case exterior dimensions and weights, route, supports and handling methods. That rating does not certify the dock, wheels, support points or entire route; confirm use conditions with the responsible staff.

The published stage height is 4 ft and the proscenium is 26 ft high by 44 ft wide. The stage narrows upstage, and not all drawing dimensions match the text. Request an updated technical plan before fixing riser, drum, sidefill and LED positions. Proscenium height is not usable trim or rigging capacity.

Stage Dimensions and Wenger risers are offered, but this document publishes no floor loads, rigging points or residual canopy or truss capacity. Submit structure weight, equipment, support reactions, geometry and ballast for competent review of additions. Do not hang motors, LED, PA or signage from existing structures merely because they appear on the lighting plot.

Confirm the truck window, maneuvering, accessible route and case removal before occupying the area. Extra parking and shore power for one bus require coordination; a parking space is not an authorized load-in route.

Which power supply serves each zone?

Use the Power Distribution plan letters to agree demand by zone and phase. These are 2026 specification references: confirm available capacity, voltage, connectors, protection and the responsible connection personnel for the actual setup. Do not add currents from different phases into a single-phase circuit capacity.

Which power supply serves each zone?
ZonePublished referenceUse and check
A400 A, three-phase, company switch, CAMs outStage Power. Authorized personnel must assign distribution; the figure does not mean all capacity is free for guest equipment.
B90 A per phase; 270 A as the stated sumFOH/AV via CAM and Lex Bento Box: 6 Edison on 3 circuits. These are not six independent supplies or a 270 A circuit.
C30 A per phase; 90 A as the stated sum; L21-30Additional FOH/AV. Verify load allocation and actual connector before reserving demand.
D50 A, 220 V, single-phase, RV outletShore Power. Confirm the bus receptacle requirements before arrival.
E50 A, 220 V, single-phaseFor Food & Beverage under the specification; do not allocate it to the AV rider without agreement.

The stage lists 5 flexible 120 V / 15 A positions and one 120 V / 20 A line on each side, SR and SL. Confirm shared circuits and existing use; do not calculate electrical demand from loudspeaker audio output power.

The APC BE425M backup is listed for FOH and MON consoles. Do not extend this backup to amplification, LED or lighting or promise runtime without checking load and battery condition. If allocation is insufficient, review demand with the responsible personnel; do not change protection or combine supplies.

How can audio and lighting be integrated without disrupting house systems?

The audio inventory includes 12 Meyer Sound MINA and 3 700-HP subwoofers. FOH and monitor desks are listed as Allen & Heath Avantis with 64 channels at 96 kHz, gain sharing and digital trim; the monitor desk includes gigaACE and Dante cards. Confirm firmware, cards, patch and preamp responsibility before loading a file. Manufacturer expansion options do not establish that those upgrades are active on these desks.

As a check to perform, agree a reference signal and follow input, channel and FOH/MON destination without first changing shared gain. If only one mix changes, inspect its trim, routing and output; if both change, check the source and shared path with the operators. Save the initial state and revert to the accepted patch if integration is unstable; do not adjust another operator’s preamps during the check.

Lighting uses grandMA2 onPC. Before opening a guest show, back up the current file and patch with the operator and identify outputs and nodes. The following allocation belongs to the venue’s published system, not every grandMA installation.

How can audio and lighting be integrated without disrupting house systems?
ControlWhat to preserve and observe
Universe 2, channels 1–25The specification requires park at full for fixture power. Do not release that park or send these channels to zero when importing a show. Verify the state with the operator before and after the change.
Universes 5–8Provided for guest fixtures through Pathport or an integration switch. Agree patch, addresses, protocol and responsibility; do not automatically connect two controllers to the same output.
System-by-system checkCheck one zone at a time in the authorized window. If several fixtures disappear, first check agreed power and control outputs without mass address changes.
RollbackKeep the backup and initial state; restore the accepted file and connections with the technical director before continuing if the check is unsuccessful.

Why is content cropped on the concert LED?

The specification lists 4 mm Touring Series panels: concert setup uses 50 panels, 5 high by 10 wide, upstage; screening setup uses 60 panels, 6 high by 10 wide, downstage. These are not interchangeable configurations without reviewing stage use, visibility and installation.

For the upstage setup, the document specifies a 70 px crop at the top and another 70 px at the bottom of the 1920 × 1080 image. Request the venue template and actual output resolution; the crop does not establish the panels’ native pixel matrix. Keep important information in the upper visible area within the template so musicians or instruments do not obscure it.

Prepare an image with a border, grid and edge labels for an authorized check. If edges are already missing in the file preview, correct the composition; if the preview is complete but the display loses them, review mapping and the output chain with the operator. Keep the approved setting for rollback, without changing the LED processor without authorization.

Blackmagic Design ATEM Mini Extreme ISO and playback options using MadMapper, QLab and Resolume are offered. Confirm equipment, version, inputs, format, frame rate and content before checking; a software name does not establish every license or format is available for the event.

What remains to agree for recording, effects or scope changes?

Optional multitrack recording is described as 64 channels through Dante DVS into Logic and REAPER, with an operator included in the published option. Agree channel list, sample rate, tap point, duration, storage and delivery. To check it, record and play back an authorized excerpt, verifying each channel and file integrity; an active meter does not establish a recoverable recording.

Streaming is a separate service with vMix and a published fiber connection. Confirm access, destination, demand and a local fallback before relying on it; fiber availability does not certify available bandwidth or continuity for the stream.

The optional inventory includes Chauvet AmHaze Stadium Hazer. Availability and price do not approve haze, smoke, lasers, cold sparks or pyrotechnics. Submit model, fluid, position and scope to the venue and resolve applicable authority reviews. Until confirmed, keep an effects-free version. Do not disconnect fire detection or protection systems for a check.

The canopy does not replace a weather and suspension plan. Agree responsibilities, actual equipment operating limits and shelter before setup; do not derive an allowable wind speed from the canopy’s commercial description. If structure, load, power, effect, audience or position changes, issue a revised plan and obtain affected acceptances before implementing it.

City application, if applicableMunicipal page effective 01/10/2026: USD 352 application fee. Other permits, services, deposits and charges are separate; this is not the total event cost.

Record the delivered configuration, remove additions with the responsible personnel and check equipment and site handback. All described tests are checks to perform; they do not establish completed physical tests, permits or verified capacities.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a truss or screen to the canopy?

The specification describes installed equipment but publishes no points or residual capacity for your addition. Submit geometry, weights, reactions and support method to the technical director and competent review. Existing truss or canopy presence is not rigging authorization; retain an alternative whose installation can be accepted.

Can the ramp handle any case weighing less than 1750 lb?

Weight alone is insufficient. The published reference is 14 ft × 3 ft and 1750 lb; size, load distribution, wheels, supports, handling and actual condition still need checking. Review the entire route before dispatch. If incompatible, change packaging or handling method with the responsible party’s acceptance.

Do I have 400 A available for my production?

Zone A is listed as 400 A three-phase with CAM, but guest availability must be assigned. Submit demands by zone and phase, connectors and schedules. Do not add B or C phase currents into single-phase capacity or use catering zone E without agreement. Connections are for authorized personnel.

What if lights switch off when the guest show is loaded?

Stop the change and check power and control state with the operator. Universe 2, channels 1–25, must retain the specified park at full for fixture power. Universes 5–8 are provided for guests with agreed integration. Revert to the accepted file and connections if the intended state is not recovered.

Can I deliver any 1920 × 1080 video to the LED?

Request the template and configuration first. In the upstage concert setup, 70 px are cropped at the top and 70 px at the bottom under the specification; the downstage 60-panel setup differs. Check borders and readability with the operator. Do not infer native resolution or change the processor to compensate for a file without reviewing the chain.

Does hiring the hazer authorize haze or lasers?

No. A Chauvet AmHaze Stadium Hazer is an optional service, not a permit. Identify the effect, model and location; obtain venue acceptance and resolve applicable authority reviews before including it. No specific laser or other effects procedure is confirmed here; keep an effects-free version.
