Camping World Stadium: construction, field protection and production power
This preparatory guide brings together official Camping World Stadium documentation for an audiovisual production in Orlando. The production manual and construction notices serve different purposes; available routes, services and space depend on the event.
1. Read the 2025 manual alongside the construction notices
The Production Guide cover identifies Version 2, March 26, 2025. The official construction page announces work from December 2025 through summer 2027, with events continuing during construction phases. A dimension in the manual therefore does not establish availability on your event date.
The notice mentions the Church Street closure between Tampa Avenue and Rio Grande Avenue and includes schedule changes. Use it to identify conflicts; confirm the current traffic and delivery plan before dispatching trucks. The announced expansion does not establish that the new facilities are operational.
2. Define which campus areas your production includes
The official campus map distinguishes Tinker Field to the west, McCracken Field to the southwest, Thunder Field to the southeast and Festival Field to the east. Permission to use the stadium should not be treated as automatic access to every surrounding space.
Request a plan separating stage, audience, barriers, medical stations, emergency routes, generators and production parking. The production parking plan on page 31 of the manual is labeled generic and sample: it must be adapted to the event and construction conditions.
3. Load-in routes and reference dimensions
Page 7 locates load-in at 1610 West Church Street, off South Tampa Avenue. Reconcile that reference with current detours. It describes an open dock without a leveler; do not price a load-in that assumes an installed dock leveler.
| Item in the manual, p. 7 | Published reference | Event-specific confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Dock clearance | 41 ft wide × 12 ft high | Clearance and maneuvering along the current route. |
| Ramp | 8 ft wide × 10 ft high | Slope, traction and suitable handling equipment. |
| East and west freight elevators | 10,000 lb; cab 6 × 10 × 7 ft; door 6 × 7 ft | Availability and total load including cart and operator. |
| North field entrance | 25 ft wide × 15 ft high | Obstructions, barriers and access authorization. |
4. Field protection and temporary structures
Page 7 instructs users to check with the stadium before driving onto the field. The statement that many field covers are drivable does not authorize every vehicle, support or load.
As technical preparation, provide weights, wheel and support loads, travel routes and a protection proposal. The reviewed sections do not establish a universal allowable field load or approved rigging points for your structure. Freight elevator capacity is not a floor rating. Stage engineering and manufacturer requirements must resolve those limits.
5. Separate field services from 480 V connection points
The table on page 24 lists locations and services; it does not certify simultaneous spare capacity. Obtain circuit assignments, phase distribution, protection, connectors and the person responsible for connections before designing distribution and generators.
| Location, p. 24 | Published reference | Limit of this information |
|---|---|---|
| East field: south, center and north | 100 A, three-phase, 120–208 V at each location | Confirm reservation and access during construction. |
| East electrical room and northwest field entrance | 200 A + 400 A, three-phase, 120–208 V at each location | Do not add them as guaranteed available power. |
| East and west bus compounds | Three-phase 480 V connection point | Do not connect 120–208 V equipment without an appropriate distribution design. |
| Loading dock | 2 × 5 services rated 200 A; voltage left blank in the table | Page 7 mentions reverse ground and neutral; clarify the configuration with the electrical lead. |
6. Stage permitting includes an inspection
The procedure on pages 13–14 calls for show structural drawings and a full site plan overlaid on the stadium life safety plan. It specifies separate digitally sealed sheets, application preparation by the designated party, the owner’s signature and submission.
After approval, it calls for scheduling an on-site inspection around the build and distributing the Certificate of Completion. These are separate stages: submitting plans or holding a booking does not mean the inspection has passed. Confirm the applicable procedure with the venue and authority; this guide does not establish permits or authorize GLMedia to act as the applicant.
7. LED fascia and on-field displays
Page 27 describes LED fascia measuring 5,248 × 48 pixels and statistics areas measuring 896 pixels at each end. It warns against splitting text, logos and messages across breaks. It specifies pixel-scale work, RGB, BMP or PNG stills without alpha and animation at 30 fps. Obtain the current template and delivery format before creating content.
Page 28 shows a 10,400 × 60 pixel on-field LED diagram but expressly states that these displays are not available at the stadium and must come from an outside vendor. The drawing does not establish installed inventory or include equipment supply in your contract.
8. Weather, show interruption and restart
Page 34 addresses monitoring from production arrival, a pre-gates assessment and limited covered shelter. It identifies lightning within 8 miles as a danger criterion. That section does not provide a complete restart rule: do not invent a waiting period or apply that figure as the only threshold for the entire operation.
Agree on who decides, who communicates, how each group is protected and evacuated, and who authorizes resumption. Page 40 calls for written show-stop instructions. A rain-related ticket policy does not replace wind limits for structures and equipment, engineering requirements or the event emergency plan.
Frequently asked questions
Can the announced future capacity be used to plan today’s audience?
No. The construction page describes a planned expansion. Usable occupancy must follow the event plan and approvals, accounting for the stage, exits, closed areas and construction phases.
Does the guest guide cover crew and equipment access?
No. Guest bag, ticket and gate rules serve a different purpose. Production requires credentials, schedules, a load-in route, field protection and services agreed for its setup.
