Millumin: layers, timeline and a proposed projector output test

A sequence may look correct on the Mac yet reach the wrong destination or arrive cropped. Prepare media, layers and the output path separately, using a record production and the operator can compare.

Version and project information

Reference: Millumin 5.14.l, dated October 3, 2026, in the changelog; Millumin V5 manual. V5 requires macOS 11 or later. Record the installed version, Mac, GPU, adapters, license and receivers.

Preserve the original project and media. In a copy, identify each file, duration, frame rate, audio and destination. A sketch and draft timings are enough to begin.

Choose calls or a timed sequence

Layers organize content; the timeline arranges it over time. Decide what follows a call and what has a fixed duration before programming.

Proposal: opening video, a holding background during a speaker and closing video. Record start, ending action and audio per piece. Rehearse an extended speech and return to the background; a changing agenda needs flexible calls.

Three questions for comparing intent with reception

Is the correct media playing? Compare the approved file and version, visible layer and timeline section. Start with known media, then rehearse the complete sequence.

Is the picture cropped or distorted? Separate layer geometry from canvas mapping. Save dimensions and crops before changing one stage at a time.

Is the receiver still black? Identify the output and follow the path to the projector or display. Try a labeled pattern and then movement; a picture on the Mac does not confirm the receiver.

Proposed scenario: two overlapping projectors

The official soft-edge guide uses a horizontal 2 × 1 layout and test card. Blending attenuates the overlap; it does not remove projector black level.

Before rehearsal, request usable surface, positions, lenses, resolution and refresh rate for both projectors. Mark the shared area on a sketch rather than assuming a universal percentage. Check lines, circles, grays and movement on both sides and in the overlap.

Compare destination identity and geometry first, then uniformity and brightness transitions. If focus, optics or the surface prevent alignment, review the physical setup with the projection lead. Verify the optical design and projector alignment on the actual surface before adjusting the blend.

Prepare your project

For a sequence or overlapping projection, start with photos of the surface, a sketch and draft timings. Equipment models and dimensions do not need to be final. GLMedia can help review content, projectors and signal paths, with equipment rental or purchase, integration and technical support for the setup.
