Questions and troubleshooting
I changed the PerfectCue Micro buttons in the app, but they still perform the old commands. How do I check that they were saved?
Read the commands stored in the receiver and check the write step in the app for that generation. Editing a field on screen does not mean the Micro has received the change. V1.0 and 2.0 use different programming apps and configuration connections.
The legacy programmer document excludes Micro units purchased after December 2024, and DSAN lists V1.0 and 2.0 separately. Check the label, revision and app before choosing a procedure.
- Record the receiver, transmitter, computer, operating system, app version and port. Keep screenshots of the original button assignments for each output, and use a copy of the presentation for testing. Use a known working data cable: receiving power does not prove USB communication.
- For Micro V1.0 with the legacy programmer, connect to the port labeled A, wait for Device Ready and click Load from PerfectCue. Edit Forward, Reverse or Blank for the required output, then select Save to PerfectCue. To remove a keystroke, DSAN says to select it and use Delete in the context menu. Backspace is recorded as another keystroke.
- For PC-Micro 2.0 on Windows, the instructions specify the right-side USB port. Open its app and press Settings if prompted. The yellow LED blinks and the PERFECTCUE drive appears. D: is the example drive letter, not a required letter. Edit the command, confirm with OK and select SAVE ALL SETTINGS.
- For PC-Micro 2.0 on Mac, the document permits either C port. Open the Mac app and press Settings if prompted; PERFECTCUE should appear. Edit the command, use SAVE in the dialog, then SAVE ALL SETTINGS. If prompted to eject the drive, do so before unplugging. Do not apply the Windows port requirement to the Mac procedure.
- Read the assignments again after saving, then test forward, back and Blank on each intended computer with the presentation app in focus. If the assignments have not changed, record detection, port and save message before repeating edits. If they changed but the response did not, check the command and app focus. On Micro 2.0, also check Keystroke Delay: the manufacturer permits up to one second of delay. Check that setting before blaming RF.
How do I disable Blank on PerfectCue Micro? Should I leave the field empty?
For Micro V1.0 with the legacy programmer, DSAN specifies two CapsLock keystrokes in the field. For PC-Micro 2.0, its instructions require a null value. Identify the generation and app first; simply clearing a field can leave a different setting from the one you intended.
The legacy Micro guide assigns b to Blank by default and notes that the supplied transmitter may not have that button. Identify the actual transmitter and read its assignments before attributing a black screen or another command to Blank.
DSAN’s general FAQ describes a null value, while the legacy programmer PDF, dated 7.1.2025, specifies CapsLock twice. Follow the document for the app in use. If the interface or revision does not match, preserve the assignments and confirm the procedure with DSAN before writing changes.
- Read the current settings and check outputs A and B in the programmer. These are receiver destinations; those names do not identify the physical USB connector type. Note which buttons the actual transmitter has, so you do not assign a symptom to a nonexistent button.
- In the V1.0 procedure, remove the old keystrokes using the context menu and enter CapsLock twice in the appropriate field, then Save to PerfectCue. In 2.0, enter the documented null value, confirm the dialog and select SAVE ALL SETTINGS. Use the configuration connection described above for your platform.
- Using a copy of the file with both computers visible, test forward, back and the modified button if present. Check that no black screen appears and no other required function changes. If the test fails, record assignments, port, app and response; do not substitute a random letter. Agree who will take manual slide control before handing back to the presenter.
Choose the configuration procedure and check the saved settings
| Equipment and task | Documented control or connection | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Micro V1.0: read and write button assignments | USB labeled A; Device Ready; Load from PerfectCue; Save to PerfectCue | Initial assignments, A/B destination and values read back after saving. |
| Micro 2.0 on Windows | Right-side USB; Settings; PERFECTCUE; OK; SAVE ALL SETTINGS | Drive detection and subsequent test in the intended app. |
| Micro 2.0 on Mac | Either C port; Settings; SAVE; SAVE ALL SETTINGS | PERFECTCUE visible; eject if prompted; response after saving. |
| Disable Blank | V1.0: CapsLock twice. 2.0: null value | Procedure for the exact app and outputs in use, without improvised substitute keystrokes. |
| Slide advance is delayed on Micro 2.0 | Keystroke Delay permits up to 1 second | Configured value and observed response before investigating another cause. |
Checks before the presentation
Program and compare outside the live presentation. Record assignments before and after, generation, platform and what each computer displays. A save message, a received command and an advanced slide are different checks; record only what you observe.
