Model and application
- Analog inputs
- 32
- Analog outputs
- 16
- AES50 ports
- 2
- Rates
- 44.1 / 48 kHz
- USB role
- Firmware updates
DL32 is remote I/O, not a mixer or a Dante/USB recording interface. Confirm console, firmware and the documented topology.
Connections and required equipment
Mic → shared preamp → AES50 → console channel/bus → AES50-A transmit → rack XLR output. Ethernet control and ULTRANET are different connections.
Prepare the system
- Save console routing and identify the clock leader.
- Protect outputs and compare actual port labels, cable and sync indicators.
- Test one input and one stage return before opening all destinations.
Questions and troubleshooting
No audio and no stable AES50 sync.
Clock/link status comes before patch troubleshooting.
- Read sync at both ends; compare supported rate, clock plan and documented port/cable. Do not assume both ends should follow each other.
- In rehearsal, compare one known-good approved cable/path. Verify stable sync then audio; if still failing, record states/versions for service without opening hardware.
The console bus meters, but a stage output is silent.
The rack outlet has a specific receive mapping.
- For the documented port-A setup, trace console transmit1–16 to DL32 XLR1–16; check bus assignment and mute.
- If output returns, verify the exact outlet at protected level. Otherwise preserve the complete map for support; do not copy another show’s routing.
Gain changes upset the other console.
The analog preamp can be shared.
- Identify who controls HA and phantom before changing gain; compare both consumers.
- Agree gain ownership and any supported downstream trim; verify both mixes. Unclear control/topology requires the system technician, not competing gain adjustments.
Choose the next check
| Observation | Next check | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| No sync | Clock/cable/port | Both-end status |
| Silent outlet | AES50-A transmit map | Bus/channel/XLR |
| Shared gain changes | HA ownership | Consumers and settings |
Precautions
- Use the prescribed shielded AES50 cable, not an ordinary network switch path.
- Coordinate phantom and protect downstream systems before patching.
- No internal repair, blind update or repetitive power cycling as a generic cure.
