Banquet tables: comparing round and rectangular options
Place settings, glasses and centerpieces all take up tabletop space. To compare round and rectangular tables, you need actual dimensions and the planned service style. Table shape and leg positions also affect where chairs can go.
Two examples for reading dimensions
SICO lists this family as unavailable in the America region. The models below illustrate different shapes and dimensions. For your event, request specifications for the alternative the supplier is offering.
Keep the original unit. A 1530 mm top is not exactly 60 in, and 1830 mm is not exactly 6 ft. For linens, carts or tight spaces, use the specific documentation and manufacturer-confirmed tolerances.
On narrow screens, scroll the table sideways. With a keyboard, use Tab to reach the table, then the arrow keys to scroll.
| Reference model | Shape | Tabletop dimensions |
|---|---|---|
| #700153101 | Round | 1530 mm diameter |
| #722183101 | Rectangular | 1830 mm long × 760 mm wide |
Allow space for the table service
Describe place settings, water, centerpieces and shared items. A round table’s center may need space separate from individual settings; for rectangles, review the ends and joints if multiple pieces are proposed.
Request height and leg geometry to compare with the chairs. For cloths or skirts, confirm dimensions, drop and an attachment method compatible with the furniture; textiles should not hide controls or interfere with use.
Prepare an option using the same criteria
Compare the model, dimensions, finish, tabletop condition and delivery configuration. If the table will be used without a cloth, request a finish sample and agree on cleaning requirements. Confirm what each option includes before settling the quantities.
Review the floor plan with chairs occupied and guests and service staff moving through the room. The organizer and venue review that arrangement and the room’s permitted occupancy. A table catalog’s seat count cannot replace this review.
If the table changes, check the chairs and linens
A similar-sized alternative may still need a review of linens, leg positions or the planned chairs. Request the replacement’s specification and compare it with the original order before accepting the substitution.
Record what stays and what changes: model, chairs, linens, tabletop objects and delivery. Send any differences affecting the layout to the organizer and venue for floor plan review.
Tell us about the table service
A reference photo and the meal format are enough to start. If the menu, place settings or dimensions are still undecided, mark them as details to confirm.
- What are the date, city and venue?
- Will the tables be used for plated dining, a buffet, work or several activities during the event?
- How many guests and tables are you considering, even as a preliminary estimate?
- Would you like to compare round tables, rectangular tables or both, and do you have a reference photo?
- What is known about place settings, drinks, centerpieces and other shared items?
- Are chairs and linens already planned? Tell us who is supplying them.
- Will presentations, music or layout changes need to be coordinated with the program?
- Are you looking for rental, purchase or coordination with your supplier, and what delivery and pickup support do you need?

Frequently asked questions
Does a round table always take the same number of chairs?
No. Actual diameter, chair choice, service and intended use matter. Review the proposed guest count within the event floor plan.
Can I compare tables before choosing the place settings?
Yes. Describe the service style and what has yet to be chosen. We can compare tables and then review the layout with the final place settings and furniture.
What if the supplier offers a table in a similar size?
Request the alternative’s model and actual dimensions. Send them to the teams handling chairs, linens and service, and record which table replaces the original choice. Confirm the delivery configuration before accepting the change. A similar product name is not enough to leave the rest of the order unchecked.
What if the centerpiece has not been chosen yet?
Mark it as an open decision and describe the type of object being considered. Review seating and service once its footprint is known. If the tabletop changes, check the planned linens as well.
Video and audio for this space
If the program combines dining and presentations, include both activities in the audiovisual inquiry.

A reference photo, initial guest count and service style are enough to start. Add the date, venue and any available program. Note whether presentations or music are planned so the table request can be coordinated with audiovisual needs.
